Glad I watched this video. I learned a bit about my new watch from watching. The enabling/disabling the touchscreen with pressing the upper right and lower left buttons at the same time was invaluable for me.

Great video and interesting comments. I’m also a massive fan of the Fenix. I believe the Fenix is a much better watch than the Epix when using it like you are. The screen is designed to be easily seen outside, the Epix screen is much better indoors. I have a dive watch with an AMOLED screen and it’s almost unreadable in bright sunlight and I have to turn the brightness to full to see it in bright conditions. I’ll be very interested to hear your opinions as you do talk a lot of sense.

I am currently ‘living’ with the EPIX, first video out on Wed at 11.45am comparing the two watches, but after just one week I feel you are right with your conclusions.

@@ukgpstraining Hi, I'm considering buying the Fenix 7 Sapphire at the moment but I'm concerned that the screen may be difficult to see when running and hiking outdoors. Do you think that the sapphire screen is easy to see?

Thanks so much for linking the video, would you be able to say in your personal opinion if the Fenix 7 Sapphire is easy to read outdoors in bright weather? I run with heart rate monitoring so do glance at the watch face often. I am not sure whether to get the Fenix 7 or the Garmin instinct 2 Solar -- my main interest is running and hiking on simple enough routes.
@MarkN672 жыл бұрын
@@leoncm100 if I was you, I’d go with the F7 over the instinct as I think you’d regret it later on if you didn’t. The Fenix is designed more for outdoor use and I use mine a lot with the maps and I’ve never had a problem viewing it outdoors even without my reading glasses.

Hi Jon. My garmin connect app doesn’t show the same looking screen as yours for the overview. On my one it has the map at the top and the data below, but not in those nice coloured circles. Would you know how I can change it to look the same as yours?
@ukgpstraining5 ай бұрын
Hi the video was filmed 1 year ago with the older Connect app on my iphone, there have been a number of updates to the app in the last year and the layout and style of the app has now changed with the updates hence you will not be able to display the same as the older app, I hope this helps, Kind regards

Hey John, another great video - which I had your stamina! Would you tell me what Montane jacket you were wearing please? I'm looking for a light weight jacket to also use on my MTB

Chris, thanks for your kind words. Sadly I don't know what the style of the jacket is, I know Montane won't thank me for this, but I and my staff just wear what they give us.

Thanks for your comment, in this Wednesday’s video we compare the EPIX and Fenix 7, our first thoughts. Currently wearing the EPIX, love it if I can get my head around charging it over x3 times more than the Fenix.

Hi Jon great video! How do you set the 1 mile markers to track every mile? Also do you know if you can set it to track the steps on an activity as well as the steps of the day overall count? Also is there a particular reason why you set it to record the walk when following a course, as following a course saves the data too doesn’t it?
@ukgpstraining7 ай бұрын
Thanks for your questions If you bought your unit from us please contact our tech support team - 01669 621044, they will go through your settings with you and get you set up re mile marker notifications You can only measure your daily steps i.e. you can't measure them for your activity as a separate file. No reason Jon records both, I will tell him he is doing it wrong, I know he is always keen to learn!

does the topo map come with built in major trails so i dnt have to download gpx files?

The TOPO PRO maps do show major trails but you will very much struggle to navigate with it on sock a small screen. In next Wednesday's video I am out with the EPIX and I am showing you how to plan a route and wirelessly transfer it to a watch using the connect app. You may find it useful.

Is there a way to have it just point arrow straight to destination? I do a lot of hiking in big open areas, so sometimes the trail will go a long way to see sights but then I want to go straight back to destination. Haven't found a way to get an arrow not following course but just as bird flies. Any tips?
