Actually, that’s how some visually test their ghillie. They put it on the ground and come back to it etc to see if it seems to blend in enough to disappear. If it does, it’s a good base for a ghillie. Then you veg up.

I built my own ghillie suit with a cape from scratch. I built my ghillie hood from two boonie hats, using the back part of a larger brimmed hat, mounting it under the back part of the smaller hat to drain off any rain further down my back instead of going down my neck. I incorporated a small amount of synthetic burlap or jute into the actual burlap which covers my entire suit and hat as more of a pattern breakup. Plus, my cape has a shoulder system, which connects the cape to my shoulders using buckle and draw strings. The nice part of this is, I can disconnect the center buckle, flip it over my head and lay the hood over my chest, put on my actual single stalker ghillie hood, crouch down by a tree with my knees drawn up towards my chest and totally blend into my surroundings and be slightly above ground for better viewing of the area around me. I’ve made boot coverings out of the same materials as my cape is made from which have bungie cords at the top and secure just below my knees. The coverings are made from volleyball netting and real burlap. So, with everything on, if you use your natural foliage and not stick yourself out in the light, use the wood’s natural shadows and be mindful of what’s behind you, you’ll not draw any attention to yourself. They don’t call us Shadow Warriors for nothing. When people are looking for you, whether it’s in airsoft or in real life, people tend to look for things which stand out, like your head & shoulders, as well as being the largest or tallest piece of ground. Also, nice white shoes. If you get a chance to buy them, buy the military boots which are All camo’d, including the soles. That’s what I wear, along with the camo’d leg gaiters. Also, just because you’re laying down on the ground in a ghillie suit, doesn’t mean you can’t be seen. Two things that will give you away faster than anything else are: You are seen moving or what you’re wearing, making contact with the ground with creates a contrasting outline around you. It looks just like a shadow and basically Outlines you better than a yellow marker pen. Have someone take pictures of you when you hide and look at those photos yourself and see what gives you away to You. This will tell you where you can improve. Also, take off anything that swings, like that branch you have on the front of your ghillie hood. Movement. “Any” movement, no matter how slight is your worst enemy. And when you have to move, even just to raise your head slightly for a better view, do it slowly. So slowly that you almost don’t know yourself whether you’re moving or being still. And learn to totally relax when you’re in your Hide. Good luck and... Good Hunting☠️

Hey, thx for taking the time to comment. It seems like you have transformer type of suit :p I'm sure it works very well And you are right , sitting in front of things is allot better that behind and having to peek over, exposing the outline of head and shoulders. About my shoes... this made me laugh aswell while I was going true the footage xD it has something to do with the whitebalance of the camera. In real life they are desert tan and very dirty now. Altho black would have been a much better pick OR as you suggest, camo boots! Plenty of room for improvement! When it comes to movement, I agree for the most part but being absolutely still without leaves or grass swaying allong in the wind makes you odd when the surrounding is swaying so I can see where you are comming from but I still think this is a trade off and some movement is needed in the wind. If you let me I would love to suggest "hunters mesh" to you. It seems to me you are quite handy when it comes to crafting and you use a wide range of stuff. Hunters mesh is a camouflage printed mech thas is semi see true. When it comes to the outline of your body this works like magic becouse it blurs out the yellow marker you are talking about it makes your outline "fade" Happy hunting to you. Live your life in the shadows!

I am sure this is very effective in gameplay. Especially when people are ‘not’ specifically looking for you. I don’t understand the boony though. For me that was how I found you quite easily in most hide and seek shots. Also the rafia on your backpack and essentially the whole colour pallet was too light for your surroundings. Especially when you chose to hide on the brown leaves only forest surface. Nonetheless great video!

@@OperaGhost-5 That is a fake plant which I tore apart. (Used to resemble some kind of fat plant) Some tips: If you go to the store to buy artificial plants try to spent as little as possible, the cheaper they are made the easier to tear apart . You will be most likely to be left with parts that are 1 collor or a gradation within the plstic. Just perfect! Dont worry that they are cheap, they come apart easy but the plastic itself is pretty strong. Collor can be altered with a praypaint can if you do so desire! Stores I would recomend; Action, Poundland, Dollar tree etc... any of that nature. I hope it helps, Have a nice hunt! PS: I might make an advanced crafting video covering this in the future.

Hey, the exact suit I'm wearing here is called a leafy suit, I added some fake ivy to give it a little more green and depth with the smallest zip ties I could find. The natural vegetation used was attached with rubber bands on my arms and the webbing (net) of my backpack. I have seperate video of that linked in the discription. Good luck building you suit, have fun!

@yorickkeepingthingssimple7089
@yorickkeepingthingssimple7089 3 жыл бұрын
hey, if you are truely alergic to the material there is nothing much you can do but if it is just the smell you can try a couple of things, first put it in the washing machine 1 or 2 times. Assuming you tried that, you can soak it in a bucket of water for a couple of days. refreshing the water once or twice. Airing it out by hanging it outside for a week could do the trick aswell. If you like to keep the suit dry, I would suggest the last option. Put the whole suit in a plastic bag, tie it shut and leave it in the freezer overnight. this might kill the smell aswell, if it worked but not all is gone, do it again. good luck!
@davidjohnston3172
@davidjohnston3172 3 жыл бұрын
i'm using baking soda right now to clear it up even weed bothers me to lay on cough for a week the smell does not leave my nose ever it takes long time to get - but half is gone away from ghillie suit now but i wont leave it in the washer i use a bucket then baking soda for sure - if in washer its going to break it up the ghilie was 80 dollars to much to throw it away

Hey bud, if you want my advice your suit is too dark, you need a lighter base to start with try spray painting your ghillie with some tans and browns also you need a good bit more of natural veg tied in a good percentage is 70 real veg 30 fake veg or jute

@thedubstepfox193
@thedubstepfox193 4 жыл бұрын
I appreciate that you made the video but I have a tendency to be extremely over critical. The suit you wearing is called a leaf suit. A ghillie suit is covered with burlap/jute or whatever you use and and much much dense. A leaf suit is covered with artificial leaves. Also if wearing your hood was a problem why not just not wear the hood.
@yorickkeepingthingssimple7089
@yorickkeepingthingssimple7089 4 жыл бұрын
Hey, thx for the comment. You are absolutely right, this is a leaf suit or a leafy suit indeed! I chose to use Ghillie because the word is more common and thus easier to find my video. I consider that harmless in this situation because the content applies to both suits. But if you wear a traditional ghillie you can always use the strands aswell to tie sticks etc in without the aid of rubberbands. Now when it comes down to crafting I would invite you to use all the knowledge about camo systems and combine them to get the best of both worlds ^^ In fact I use some burlap strands and cordage myself. To answer your question about the hood, since this is a leaf suit and not a traditional ghillie the hood does not come with the same volume making my head very egg shaped again. I could use leaves etc to add the volume but then I have to keep in mind to add the same weight all the way around in order for the hood to stay in place and not wanting to slide to one side or worse, back off again. Problems I do not have with the boonie/bucket hat. On top of that we have the brim the hat offers, this distorts the profile of the head immensely. You can tuck one side down or up to make the overall shape even more asymmetrical. The hat comes with loops as well making it easier to add vegetation, the hood does not. I hope this answer could help you out :D Good luck, have fun!

The year is 2040, your laying in the woods 100% invisible with sniper and glock, martial law has been affective for 2 years and your waiting in a high foot traffic area, 3 guys with AR15 and duffle bags of ammo walk infront of you 50 yards away, would u shoot or let them pass ????? I’d do a kill shot on the biggest guy, wait to see if the others run or fight, if they want to fight I’ll just lay there and wait them out, if they help the dead guy I’ll pop em

A boonie hat will give you away every time....as it did....distinct brim and very dark shadow. Cut the front of the brim off....this eliminates the shadow and line and helps you see where you are going when stalking...especially when crawling....speaking of crawling....try crawling in that suit and see how long it lasts and how it catches on everything. It's OK for hunters but not military.
