I’ve been tying my buck tail jigs since the 80’s . I use brown and black / blue, I’ve added a little flash to them. Great action. Great Topic.

Great vid! I got my PB on a homemade Bucktail Jig. I also catch a ton of pike on it along with both types of bass and walleye! 1/4 3/8 and 1/8 all work well for me. So versatile and can be used in shallow water like creeks too.

Amazing tips, thank you I have been tying crappie jigs and bass jigs for a year now, and I can't wait to try these patterns. I'm looking forward to making the drop shot rig next. I just started tying on treble hooks

Slow twitch steady slow reel above the living grass. 5 largemout 5 pickerel in 1.5 hour trip. Haven’t gotten a chance to get on some smallies to Test out my jigs. But the largemouth love them

Badass closeup demos. Badass selection on that table. Thanks man. Ps: that wall behind you is so cool that you don’t need those 3 prints. No match. Ps: drop shot reco is top notch 👌🏻 ps2: look at the rigs used for snook In Nokomis, FL. I know the weight is excessive, but that flasher… I always thought of but never tried incorporating… let us know your thoughts ✌️

Fly fishing is where it's at, if you are throwing small lightly weighted or unweighted feather/hair type lures. you should try it if you enjoy hair jigs so much. Fly fishing allows you to have more control over how you move your hair jig and helps you feel every little bump. It's not hard to learn like most people think, It's actually pretty easy.

I use hair jigs for stripers. Like you said I'll put on a piece of Uncle Josh pork as a trailer and it's like the next best thing to live bait. The only thing is I like to move my bait a little faster, almost like a swim jig.

Drifting or “towing” the hair jig at .8 to 1.3 mph over reefs is a great way to find them. Good stuff here.

Those jigs would work well in saltwater too. I know bonefish love them. I just purchased some marabou to make bonefish jigs with them. I've used the dropshot technique with synthetic flies and that works good but I'm hoping the marabou will give it more action.
@BassManStrikes Жыл бұрын
Doesn't have to be a spinning rod and reel you can easily cast these with a BFS baitcaster setup. I don't use spinning gear anymore it works so good 😀

Woah that’s super light gear, I run on a 7”2 fenwick hmg medium fast, used to run 15lb braid on 12lb flouro, bc I was concerned about the musky in my area and the tons of snags in the river. I went down to 10lb braid and 8lb seaguar. 5lb braid seam like I would brake off on a hook set haha. But it sounds like a super fun set up!!

@SmallmouthCrush6 жыл бұрын
At this time the tackle store that I wa talking to about doing this hasn't really reached out to me to move forward on it. Your best bet at this time is find a small company that can hand tie some marabou jigs and ask them if they could tie some on a drop shot hook for you. Maybe send them the drop shot hooks you prefer and have them tie it on. If i hear anything different I will be posting to this video in the future. Thanks for watching!

I have been whack'n them on hair for years. The drop shot hair jig/fly is deadly. A little East Tennessee SECRET I have tied and fished for 5-6 years.....apply some Punisher fish dope or KVD Fish Stix to the drop shot fly during the winter like we do with the Float-N-Fly and watch what happens. I tie a 1oz. jig for summer that is 7-8 inches long that looks just like a live shad with the profile and it's $$. You and I need to talk hair.
