Hey Jason, love your videos, really helped me hit the ground running when I started playing a couple months back. Anyway, I've got a tip to share with you for whenever you're doing some industrial-grade refining: You know how you can only have two large and three medium refiners in any one room/local area? Well I did some testing, and "local area" extends vertically the same distance as eight large circular rooms. Which means, on the ninth floor, you can have another two large and three medium refiners. So I set myself up with a "foundry tower": two large + three medium refiners on the ground floor, as well as a short-range teleporter that is connected to the ninth level of the tower, which contains another two large + three medium refiners. Using this method, you can very easily make use of twice as many refiners as the game ordinarily allows, which can really speed things up when you're trying to process a couple thousand oxygen into carbon etc.

For anyone out there, if you have a planet with a sea, you should be able to get salt. Two Salt can craft one Chlorine. Yea yeah nothing special right, you can convert it back to salt too with no loss. But here comes the interesting part: One Chlorine and one Oxygen produce SIX Chlorine. Three refiners produce about 30 000 units... per... second. Bad part is, it only runs till it made around 4096 of it and then stops so you have to restart the things once in awhile.

the expansion recipes are nice but are also game-breaking. The fact that you can expand plant materials with its corresponding catalyst, and buy infinite catalyst at dealers, then manufacture and sell back items for immense profit, means once you get the recipe for circuit board you can go on an endless manufacturing loop and max out on units fairly early on in gameplay. Nice exploit, but as I said, game-breaking.
@JasonPlaysNMS5 жыл бұрын
True, but this isn't the worst offender. Duping with large refiners I would say are waaaay worse.
@jenniferjohnson79765 жыл бұрын
That's not game breaking. Getting to the point that you can make an endless loop takes a lot of time, effort, materials, and is shareable. The only way this is done early on in the game is if you are veteran to the game and have started over for whatever reason. Trust me, noobs have no idea how to do this. For the veteran, it opens up a lot of time to do whatever you want to do. Build epic bases, racetracks, create or join hubs, etc. It's part of the game and not game breaking at all. Everyone is free to play how they want so if you don't want to do that, then don't.
@fredhurst25285 жыл бұрын
@@jenniferjohnson7976 point taken. I have enjoyed many hours of No Man's Sky as well as these and other videos. On a positive note, one of my favorite things available to do in the game is storm crystal farming in the exocraft. I like it because it has a feeling of urgency, and your skill and speed has measure in how well you do before the storm subsides. I'll do that even when I don't need units ;)

One advanced technique I used was when I was low on emeril I needed for an upgrade or repair for my star ship was: one emeril + one chromatic metal = four emeril. I try yo always keep a little emeril and cadmium for ship repairs when I go black hole jumping. They are hard on the ship. I've heard of that with freighters as well, but my freighter doesn't have near the range of even my haulers let alone the exotics. How's your squid? I haven't upgraded my hyper drive yet so it currently only goes 535lys.
@JasonPlaysNMS5 жыл бұрын
I am loving it! That is exactly right, and I always try to keep some materials in my High Capacity for repairs and all refill materials too. The squid is good. I don't use it as much because the inventory is smaller
@grubby1245 жыл бұрын
Squids are great, but as Jason says, too low on slots. I only use mine for warping. You might have to shop around to get the best one though - 64% Hyperdrive bonus. The other trick for it is to keep replacing your lower range S class Hyperdrive upgrades until they're all in the 240+ light year range. That takes a bit of effort and a fair amount of Nanite Clusters. I probably spent around 5000 Nanites in total to get all of mine up there. So...my Squid has 6 S class upgrades - three in the ship slots, three in the tech slots, all touching, of course, plus the Indium drive, and that gives me a total warp range of 2892 light years.

4:30 - you get 1 copper & 1 chromatic metal in and get 8 coppers out. Making 1 chromatic metal takes 2 copper. So basically you spend 3 coppers instead of 1. And making chromatic metal also requires refining. So basically there is no point to convert chromatic metal to copper even in large refiner - just to refine it back to copper. duh. When it comes to real mmo multiplayer with beyond they need to rework these exploits because it will destroy the economy. There is no need to trade with players if you can just make infinite items out of the refinery and sell it to the global market for infinite money. I hope they rebalance things like that. I don't mind to add extra material to get a better quote of outcome but in the end there must not be more output of the same ressource you've put in before. Not without any costs, no feul, no resources. That's for single player okay, not for an mmo kind of game and economy.

He's actually not gaining any resources this is how the periodic table works if you mix a bunch of dirt together in a Refinery you will get aluminum if you add carbon into this process you will get steel. the real problem with the refinery is the duplication glitch you can literally duplicate any item you can hold

I agree with ynnus. Not on this specific one, but you can still dupe items in the refiner. I hope they fix that. And if they do that I hope they add more items for sale at the Quicksilver dealer in the Anomaly.

@@VineyardGHS Well, in real life I'm pretty sure it does not work the same way. If you mix copper and zinc to create bronze you don't get that much bronze out of it that if you would split it into both components again you end up with more zinc or more copper than before. But that's how the large refinery works in no mans sky unfortunately. Also steel is made of iron and carbon, not aluminium and carbon. But doesn't really matter - you can't get out more of the input materials than you put into it.

I though you were gonna teach me to refine like a pro. I expected advanced techniques not gradeschool ratios and fractions

His grade school math is wrong as well as the creators.

so "like a Pro" means beginner level stuff to you ? also "you're gonna find a lot of copper in the beginning" ? no you're not, you're gonna have to MINE a lot of copper, since you won't have the money to buy it instead.

Don’t know if it helps but as I do a lot of base building I need a lot of pure ferrite. So I’ve managed to work out how to create unlimited amount of ferrite dust and pure ferrite from thin air..... And one single unite of ferrite dust. Which I did a vid on.

Terrible video. I'd think a pro would use all three slots of the large refiner.

Seems like a waste of time. Easier to just mine what you need or buy it. Everyone should be rich anyway since the market is so easy to exploit

Maybe waste of time in the late game, but early on it helps a ton
