In this video we'll teach you a step by step process for making aluminum facia trim on a metal brake. We'll start off by breaking down the coil stock and then show how we measure out the size we need on the blank. Next we'll move the blank into the metal brake and start bending the facia. We make a piece of fascia 6" tall with a 1" L bend and a 1" hem on the back of the piece. We show how we try not to flip or rotate the coil stock anymore than necessary and how we start with the coil stock blank all the way inside the metal brake and make bends as we pull material out.
Thanks for watching

Thank you for sharing this. You have a wonderful system. Although I am not in the building trades, I have about 35 years experience as a DIY homeowner and have done everything except install fascia trim and am about to do so on my garage which is why I am here. In my application, I figured out that 14" trim coil would work best. In my case, instead of cutting off the inch or so of excess that I don't need, I am choosing to hem that as well as the top edge. So I will have two hemmed edges and one 90 degree bend.

This was a great video. So my question is what do you do when you have to bend around a fascia corner? Let's say you have a 10' piece and bend it at 5' at 90 degrees to wrap the corner of the house. Do you have a video for that? There as to be a slit at the 1" bottom edge to make the 90 degree bend. How much overlap do you allow for longer runs over 10'?
@ajs96350
@ajs96350 Жыл бұрын
You can cut the bottom lip and use a hand brake to get a sharp bend, if the corner is level with the other corner, not a gable. However, if the top has been hemmed, you can't get a good bend out of it, you will need to carefully cut that top hem at the bend to get a clean look. I overlap about 2" on long runs, you don't want to go crazy with it. When you are doing the level eaves and you come to a corner that goes up a gable, I cut the pc about 2" long, cut the bottom lip off at the corner and bend the rest around the corner then the gable pc slides over that. You won't need a corner pc if you do it that way, looks cleaner. You will need hand benders though, to get a sharp bend.
