I recently bought a phone charger with this knot, the knot can move from end to end to weigh down the cable so it stays in place but the main reason I bought it was for self defense. Seeing from the comments most people don’t know the history of the monkeys fist. I live in a city where crime is a norm, some guy with road rage stopped me in the middle of the street and wanted some beef not really sure why but I never gave him the chance to explain I swung away with my charger and he then left me alone, saw him last week on the street and he didn’t even try to bother me. Great video and very educational. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise

About the hard cardboard tube test: with the metal ball in there it’s basically a sap. If you strike someone in the skull with a sap or monkey fist with a metal ball in it you are probably going to kill them. That thing will break any bone it hits. If you use this for self defense realize that there will be legal repercussions. Definitely read up on your State’s laws concerning objects like this.

@Atman Gotango So called 'one punch kills' as named by the press, where the actual damage is caused by the impact of the skull striking something hard following a punch, occurs periodically in the news. Probably rare when someone's intention is to kill or seriously maim, none the less the outcome is the same.

Ive always heard it was great to chuck into someons face unexpectidly, then swing it to beat the living shht out of them as they are dealing with the initial blow. This does require one to have a little bit longer chord than most, but if done right, you can transition from the throw to the swing fairly quickly.

You can also make one with a fishing weight, a big piece of chain link, or a big nut, or a few heavy duty washers. That way you can just put the cord through the hole if you don't have the patience to learn how to tie or weave the monkey fist around the ball. Sand down the sharp edges of the metal first so the cord doesn't get cut.

@BatMan-jd5rc

You're not supposed to just swing it wildly. You CAN swing it immediately to avoid a fight. If you're attacker is persistant you should start with your fists and pull it out to distance yourself. For example: You punch the person with your right hand and follow up with a backhand swing with the monkey fist. Your attacker might be confused as to what the hell just hit them in the face. Another thing you might not know is if you're not strong enough to do a choke hold this can definitely be used to keep them in place.

Could be used as a release device. Take for instance a right handed person, shooting Asian style. Grab the monkey fist handle on your right hand, wrap the ball on the string below the arrow from left to right and hold the fist as your trigger. Draw, and when you are ready to fire, release the trigger (only the ball, not the handle, you don´t want to shoot a 1 inch steel ball towards your bow hand). Two things happen at the same time: the string and arrow are shot forward while the ball is shot to the left. This is where it gets tricky. Since the ball is shot left, the arrow knock and string will be pushed to the right, which may or may not move your aim (haven´t tried it yet), but you can continue the movement with your bow hand, twisting the bow to the right and further pushing the arrow. If you do try it and works, be sure to let us know!

Also known as a “slungshot”. Sounds similar to a “slingshot”. In fact many of the states that list slingshots as illegal actually refer to what is being demonstrated in this video because slungshots were also called slingshots in many places going back to the 1800s. Abraham Lincoln defended a man who used one of these so people have been going to jail for using these for a long time. If you’re using it for its conventional maritime use you are probably okay. *In some places it is illegal to even own one of these and I’m talking about possibly going to jail for years for simply owning it* Please use that weapon between your ears and consult an attorney or the actual statutes in your state. Wikipedia can be wrong.

That's so strange to me. I'm not saying you're incorrect, it just feels absurd. Like, its illegal to have a long keychain, and to use your keychain as a weapon for self defense? If I'm being attacked, do I need to be paranoid about what object I use to defend myself?

"So what can we do with it?" Right off the bat id say you can use the ring like a karambit fro some of the strikes, being a flexible weapon, it shouldnt be to hard to conceal majority of your attacks and counter attacks with it behind other movements. This is especially said if you practice martial arts already (some that come to mind is the different styles kung fu)

understandable, i am not a gun fan but i think pistols are fine (as long as no one is trigger happy) but i like melee weapons myself, and if i were to go into work or college with a monkey fist you have a lesser chance of getting punished (as both have rules not to bring weapons into the store/campus, you could argue it is like one of those little "cat ears" self defense key chain but yeah no guarantees though, if i were to bring one i would keep it in my bag) but of corse do not whip it out randomly.

@@sanjayr Lol I love how you're like "guns can't be properly outlawed til they're wiped off the face of the Earth. Libruls could stop all the murder & violence in the world if only everybody would listen to us and outlaw 1 out of thousands of weapons... but also only if everybody AROUND THEM outlaws them too and doesn't tempt them to break the law." You stupid liberals will just never understand that some humans are just inherently violent & dangerous, that you cant outlaw murder, that guns are there to PROTECT US from bad people who will never be persuaded or legislated into NOT shooting people or in some other way trying to hurt them, and that after you outlaw guns, people will just move on to knives (like they did in the UK) or bats or bombs or swords or vehicles or poisons or whatever else they can get their hands on. And for the record, you could do much more damage in a car or a truck than you could do with a gun. You can never fully outlaw guns because there's way too many of them in the world... which means the only people who will have them will be criminals, who, by definition, cannot be legislated to stop having guns because they don't follow the law. So that will not only put their victims in a position where they cant defend themselves, it will put ALL weaker/ smaller/ sick/ old/women/ children at a disadvantage and strip them of their right to protection & self defense. You liberals operate in the realm of naive & childish idealism where everything you believe may look ok on paper or sound good in your head when you think it, but is completely impractical if not downright dangerous. But that's because about half of "your" beliefs are not really your beliefs at all, but actually come from socialist/ communist/ Zionist/ liberal elites who want the general public completely disarmed, ignorant, fearful & begging to give up their rights for safety, weak, self deficient, and at numbers that makes them easily manageable & controllable... which is why they love abortion. And while liberals like you cry about thousands of gun deaths a year, you cheer for the murder of 50 million unborn babies. You're a hypocrite & a simpleton and a weak, effeminate NWO prototype puppet with no balls or brain of your own.

Hi. Congratulations, it is a really nice bow. Just did a review recently. I use wood dowels in a board to lay my bows on it. Might be the best way. But even when you stand your bow in a corner will be fine. Or you get the bow hanger from bearpaw, it is meant to be on the belt. But you can open it and fix ist with a button on a board on a wall. Ever there I did a video recently. Check them out :)

Any real stories of successful self defense with this kind of weapon?

Most stories are from the Boer war, but they had a stick with a metal ball. But it is pretty much the same idea.

Ok 1st you don't hold it buy the ring if some 1 decided to grab it you will end up with a broken finger and it's a 1 ounce steal ball not inches wate not with the ring is for keys it is achely a weapon not a exercise tool you have the right idea as a whole but if you tie a rope to the ring now you have a excellent weapon look up monkey fist or monkey paw
