Hi. Just got my Neti to try and clear post nasal drip problem. Your video is an excellent demo but when using find that one side ( L-R) works exactly as you show but on the other side ( R-L) the I’m not getting the flow through . Any thoughts or suggestions please ? Paul

@AbrahamThePharmacist 3 ай бұрын
Thank you for reaching out Paul - glad to hear that you found the video helpful for using your Neti pot. It's not uncommon to experience differences in flow between the left and right nostrils when using a Neti pot. Here are a few suggestions that might help improve the flow on the side where you're experiencing difficulties: Nasal Congestion: Check if there's any congestion or blockage in the nostril that's affecting the flow. Head Positioning: Ensure that your head positioning is consistent for both nostrils. Sometimes a slight tilt or adjustment in head position can make a difference in flow. Experiment with different angles to find what works best for you. Breathing: Focus on your breathing during the process. Taking slow, deep breaths through your mouth can sometimes help facilitate the flow of the saline solution through the nostrils. Adjustment of the Neti Pot: Try adjusting the angle at which you hold the Neti pot. Tilting it slightly more or less can sometimes affect the flow, so experiment with different positions to see if that helps. Nasal Cycle and Vasomotor Rhinitis: Keep in mind that the nose has a nasal cycle where every 2-6 hours, it rotates. One side congests while the other side relaxes. This is an autonomic process and can affect the flow during Neti pot usage. Additionally, conditions like vasomotor rhinitis can also impact nasal airflow. Deviated Septum: If you suspect a deviated septum, it's important to consult with a healthcare professional for further evaluation. A deviated septum can indeed affect nasal airflow and may require specific techniques or interventions for effective use of the Neti pot. If you continue to experience difficulties despite trying these suggestions, it might be helpful to consult with a healthcare professional or an experienced practitioner for personalized guidance. Hope this helps and sending awesome vibes!

My sinuses are blocked but whats stopping my breathing through the nose is actually swollen nasal passages. Will a neti pot still help?
@matthewfinnegan6839

The best non surgical thing to try is steroid spray. My ENT described it as basically an Inhaler for your nose. If you go see a doctor you can get the high strength stuff prescribed otherwise you can buy the low strength stuff over the counter (look up Flonase). I would say a neti pot will still help though. The best thing I’ve found is using the Neti Pot to clear out my sinuses, jumping in a hot shower and then two sprays of steroid spray into each nostril. (Source years of nose and sinus issues) been doing that each morning for the last week and been getting more relief from it than just using either steroid sprays or neti pots separately

Do not use tap or faucet water to dissolve the mixture unless it has been previously boiled and cooled down. Great comment! The varying airflow from one nostril to the other during nasal irrigation with a neti pot is a normal part of the nasal cycle, influenced by factors like the current phase of the cycle, head position, congestion levels, and individual anatomy. It's essential to maintain proper technique, including using the correct saline concentration, tilting the head for drainage, and gently blowing the nose afterward. Persistent or severe congestion should prompt consultation with a healthcare professional for further evaluation. Sending awesome vibes!
