I have tried to do a rolled hem on and off for a while with absolutely no success. All the tutorials I have watched make it look easy but in reality they all failed to explain the important how and why. You, however showed and explained the how and the why and the where’s of this infuriating but fabulous little rolled hem foot. Yesss, I have success. Not perfect yet, but not too far away. Thank you lovely lady.

This isn't sewing; this is magic, and the inventor is a magician.

Thank you, Jessie. I needed to look at this twice, and you made this clear.

That was the simplest explanation I have seen for a rolled hem foot.Others I've seen have said to hold up the fabric at a certain angle as it goes into the foot. Yours worked. Thank you.

This is the best video I have reviewed. You are the only one that showed how to place the fabric and begin sewing. Thank you for taking time to explain what you were doing. Great video.

Just made a kite and did the hems with the normal foot but it was hard work. Found a generic rolled hem foot for £2.80 so thought it was worth a try. Thanks for the demo! 👍😎

Hi Sophia, brilliant tip for leading threads and keeping the edge of fabric to the edge of the foot. Will be using this method next time, hopefully will stop me swearing!

I have finally been able to complete a perfect straight line! How do you feed the fabric around curves when it on the bias, I always seem to get to much, then too little fabric. Can’t seem to keep in consistant

Some great tips, thank you. I have mixed results with rolled hems! I especially struggle with more silky fabrics in getting the fabric started. Any tips around this type of slippery fabric? Thanks
@Jessalli9 ай бұрын
My advice would be to start your stitches whilst also sewing through a piece of 'Stitch'n'Tear' or similar to support it at the start, once you have it fed it should be consistent. Just take it slow and steady. x

Sophia, is it the same principle if you are sewing a hem that’s continuous, like on a skirt? I can’t quite get how you would start.
@Jessalli9 ай бұрын
Yes just start your 'small stitches' to get it started right on the edge of the hem, then as you go round you won't be able to feed the fabric into the foot when it's near the start but it should line up perfectly to top stitch the last bit in place. I can do a video on this if that would help? x

This is helpful, but what what do you do when you get to a seam? I tried to use my foot and the fabric immediately jammed when I got the seam because of the extra fabric. Any suggestions?
@Jessalli3 ай бұрын
Do you mean like a corner? I would personally stop and slide it out of the foot and sew the last bit without it. x

i don’t know if the foot i got is shitty, but the hem rolls the wrong way (so it’s not encased in the fabric) and i can’t figure out what is going wrong
