All the ppl who are saying the water hits the ear drum. Is doing it wrong. Position your head like the woman in the video and gently push the water into the nostrils. I had my surgery two days ago and nasal douching is very easy and effective. Also what might help is, instead using a bottle is to use a syringe. It’s far better and effective in my opinion. Good Luck, hope it all works out.

The major concern is that there may be bacteria present in the water, so the recommendation is that you boil tap water 1-3 minutes and then let it cool to room temp. It should be good to use at that point.

I have had sinus problems since I can’t remember, then I saw a demo on how to effectively clear your sinuses on KZbin. I have done the rinse 3 times and my problem has gone Completely!! Fill a large bowl with warm water, big enough to get your face into, You need a couple of tablespoons of sea salt, a small sachet of Xylitol and 3 drops of Iodine. Stir it well. Then immerse your face into the solution and suck up the water through you nose, do it as many times as you want/can. It feels strange at first but you will feel better immediately. Do it again the next day and the next.

if you wash your bottle with tap water, it will trun yellow after a short time and appear very dirty due to the chemicals and dilutants in the tap water. I prefer to just wash the top and replace it or rinse it with boiled or distilled water. It will stay cleaner for a lot longer.

I have used this numerous times and it only works about 10% of the time, I would say about 50% of the time it seems to make no difference, but around 40% of the time it actually makes congestion worse. My nose gets SO blocked, and I get SO desperate that I sometimes take the risk of making it worse for the possibility of some relief, but tonight luck was not on my side and it has made my congestion worse : (

The last year i cannot sleep because the headaches are so severe and even if i do manage to drift off the headache wakes me up constantly and that`s with painkillers inside of me. I was so congested that I would squeeze the bottle, but just a trickle would come pour of the open nostril, then I'd tellremove the bottle and every drop would come out of that open nostril. Switch sides, get some flow, then plug up from the mucus that was dislodged. Allergies hit me hard and I can tell when I'm getting a sinus infection from it. Due to the BeerVirus, I didn't go get an antibiotic. This time it's as bad as I've ever had. So, after 2 rinses a day with an isotonic solution, it's finally clearing out the pus. It helped to take a sudafed about an hour prior to get the inflammation to reduce. Ugh, the smell of that drainage. Yuck. In all, I should do this to help clear my sinuses during allergy season or when I'm working outside. Going to ask my dr if sinusplasty is a good option for me.

I just started using it and I was shocked that there was no pain. The first time I used it there was some discomfort because I used water that was too cool, but the second time with warmer water was a pretty neutral experience. It can be painful if you use it improperly- you can't use it with a completely blocked nostril or with certain ear conditions/infections.

It’s possible that some of the solution entered your maxillary sinuses. The opening (Ostia) to the maxillary sinus is located on the top (superior) border. The only way to drain water from these sinuses is to tilt ones head to position the Ostia lower than the rest of the sinus.

@yourstruly2983
@yourstruly2983 3 жыл бұрын
In case it's still helpful to you, my GP advised that you can make your own sea salt solution. The packets in the video are portioned so that when mixed with the correct amount of water, they're about the same saltiness as the mucous already in the sinuses (this is so that they don't cause much unpleasant sensation). In some cases you may wish to use a saltier solution (eg to reduce inflammation/soreness/mucous production) but it will sting a little. Sea salt is advised because table salt often contains anti-caking agents, and other salts aren't appropriate because of their trace contents. I'm not a doctor, but Dettol sounds like a bad idea for such a delicate, sensitive area. I'm not often one for home remedies, but salt water has fantastic medicinal properties when used like in this video, and also as a mouth rinse or throat gargle. Of course, always consult your doctor and follow their advice when you can.
