Hi, could you please tell me which hydrometer is the best? Glass or plastic?
@MoonshineHowTo3 жыл бұрын
Glass is best, easier to sanitize, better to see.

For specific gravity, we love using the refractor, but we also have a glass SG hydrometer on hand at all times.

I have a hydrometer just like yours...but I never use it. LOL. When I started brewing, the guy who taught me just told me to wing it, and that's what I always do. I just drink a 6 pack, and see how drunk I get, to estimate the AVB. hahahaha

so a little confused I have an apple mash with a reading of 1.070 and abv of 9. Is this good to run? Your video says don't run til 0.990. Did I miss something?

1.07 is what your starting gravity reading at the beginning of the fermentation process. 0.999 is what your reading should be when ready to put in your pot.

There is a a chart that comes with your hydrometer. It is not critical it is to get you in the ballpark

You are talking about using this meter to know exactly when a moonshine mash is ready for running for the most outcome. Correct
