from day one our iron seems not to be heating up sufficiently. Ironing takes longer with our new Philips PerfectCare Performer. Disappointed with the product. We have used a steam generator before that had a heat regulator and were far pleased with the old one that unfortunately broke!

The iron loses its efficiency within 3 years of light usage. The spare parts are expensive. I'm truly disappointed with Philips

The iron no doubt has superior iron capacity. But unfortunately my steam generator iron has very weak steam output after some time using it. The spare part cost is way too expensive (almost 50 percent price of a new iron) and it's better to get a brand new one with better features and technology. A lot of people love this iron but unfortunately many bring in to repair as some models are way newer than mine (how shocking to me). Perhaps Philips should look into it's steam generator iron mechanism that has so much problems. I'm residing in Malaysia and unfortunately my comment were being blocked in their official webpage for giving true opinions. Only positive comments posted for marketing purpose only. I like the way Philips UK handle customers feedback. Thumbs up! Thank you for your prompt response.

The steam generator iron model is GC 9240. I think the repair cost varies from country to country. I've send to Philips Malaysia but decided not to repair as it is too costly and my warranty after repair is only two months. I hope Philips could improve their steam iron generator. I just bought a perfect care compact gc6 model. The specs' advertised showed 110g continuous steam and up to 280g 'steam boost'. Now I understand that I have to hold the trigger for continous steam but I can't figure out nor find any information anywhere on how to use 'steam boost'. Any advice ?

Is it safe to store the hot iron in its generator base after use or does it need cooling first . I find the plastic / silicone base gets really hot and could this cause issues over time ?

Hello, thanks for reaching out. Good question! Our steam irons or garment steamers have been designed to be used with tap water. However, if you live in an area with hard water, fast scale build-up may occur. So, to prolong the lifespan of your iron or steamer, it is recommended that you use distilled or demineralised water (50% demineralised water mixed with tap water can also be used). Moreover, the steam generator comes with a built-in descaling system called Smart Calc Clean, which reminds you when you need to descale. 😊 We hope this helps! Why the water didn't come out stop flowing what is the problem

Hi Marisa, thanks for reaching out to us regarding your Philips Iron. We are sorry to hear that water has been leaking out, that is inconvenient. This can happen if the Calc-Clean process has been accidentally started. You can switch off the iron and then switch it back on again. Next, let the iron heat up until the ‘iron ready’ light lights up steadily. Another reason for water leaking is that steam condenses into water in the hose when you use steam for the first time or have not used it for a long time. This is normal, simply hold the iron away from the garment and press the steam trigger. Wait until steam instead of water comes out of the soleplate.
