Are you having trouble feeding your fabric? Do your layers shift while sewing? Or is your fabric being warped off grain? Then you definitely want to watch our quick video on how to use a Walking Foot.
Having a Walking Foot is just as important as having a general purpose foot. It's essential because there are many tasks and fabric types that a standard presser foot can't handle.
In our updated Walking Foot video, we'll teach you how to use a standard Walking Foot and an Open Toe Walking Foot. We'll also demonstrate how to switch the soles of your Walking Foot and how to install 2 types of quilting bars.
Get a Walking Foot today: goo.gl/EvFd74
Because this foot has so many uses, we highly suggest investing in a high-quality walking foot, preferably with interchangeable soles and a quilting bar.
If you're not sure which Walking Foot fits your machine, contact us here: goo.gl/crTy02
Or read our guide on how to determine shank size: goo.gl/lTZlce

Thank you. I have only been sewing for almost three months. First masks by hand. Now, by machine or hand...according to how I feel at the moment. I am learning so much!! I ordered a walking foot; it was delivered today. Tried it out and am amazed at the smoothness and difference in the way the material feeds through. I am so grateful for the (extensive variety) of tutorials I have found on KZbin.

Thank you for doing great informative tutorials. I've been a subscriber for a while now and have tried other KZbin videos however, none compare to the quality and professional as your channel. I've also made purchases from you and I'm pleased with your customer service. Plus, your tutorials have taught me to be a better sewer! So, I would like to say Thank you! Keep up the good work! I was wondering what that bar was for! It was in the bag of accessories that came with the machine but wasn’t shown in the manual. Thanks, and thanks for the clear explanation of a walking foot, the manual skimped there too.

Great tutorial.. I always forget about the walking foot. I'm hemming demon stretch jeans, just to confirm that when using this foot I don't change my regular settings?
@SewingPartsOnline
@SewingPartsOnline 2 жыл бұрын
It just depends on your fabric. You should be fine with your regular settings; however, try testing on some scraps before moving forward with your project. Also, if you're having issues with that fabric, double-check your needle; you will want to use a denim needle. :)

You mention different "soles" for the walking foot. Are there more than just the two (standard and open toe)? I love my walking foot and would like to know if there are more "soles" for it like zipper, or any number of other specialty "feet/soles". (I have a Janome Decor Excel 5018).

I would love an explanation of the difference between a $12 walking foot and a $50 walking foot. Why do the cheap ones wear out so quickly? Also, is it okay to sew in reverse while using an even feed foot?
@SewingPartsOnline
@SewingPartsOnline 2 жыл бұрын
You're looking at difference in quality. The higher priced options are made of better materials, usually have more metal than plastic, and last longer. Also, it is not recommended to sew in reverse with a walking foot.

AWESOME! I was just thinking about this very subject this morning. I have some hand woven dish towels to hem and the them is going to be REALLY thick. I see the walking foot is what I might want to use. I will be weaving a great deal this summer and fall using heavy cottons and wool. This is going to really help get my projects sewn. Do you have any other suggestions for sewing hand woven fabrics?

What is a "universal needle?" Is there a different kind of thread for hand woven fabrics? Seem I have a lot more to learn than I thought. I have woven some 3/2 cotton dish towels and plan on weaving curtains. What type of thread is best for these fabrics? I am spinning my own fine yarn (pure wool) for skirts, tops and light shirts.

Great video tutorial! I forgot all about laminated fabrics and vinyl! Doh! That tip is priceless. :) I also heard someone say "it's a walking foot, not a RUNNING foot" meaning not to run it a flat out speeds lest it be overworked and break. Does this ring true with you?
@SewingPartsOnline
@SewingPartsOnline 8 жыл бұрын
"running" the foot will wear it out more quickly, but I find I rarely sew at top speeds unless basting. That being said, we always recommend buying a high quality walking foot. It makes all the difference.

Can you use the walking feet on any sewing machine
@SewingPartsOnline
@SewingPartsOnline Жыл бұрын
They are compatible with many machines, but not all. Sometimes, the needle clamp screw is too short to accommodate the arm. In that case, a roller foot is a great alternative. But - for domestic machines, you can normally get one that will work. If you are looking for one for your model, please reach out to our customer service. They would be happy to see if we have an option for your machine. The email is info@sewingpartsonline.com. :)

I have the Janome 12000. The manual says to use the straight stitch plate with the walking foot. Consequently, I have only used the walking foot for straight stitching. I would assume you need the zigzag plate in order to do some of the examples you presented in the video. Is that right? Thanks, great video!

Hi, Donna! You are correct! If you plan to do any zig zag stitching or decorative stitching, you would need to switch to a zig zag plate.

@SewingPartsOnline
@SewingPartsOnline 8 жыл бұрын
You could just leave it on your machine, however, a quality Walking Foot is pretty expensive and they do wear out over time and with heavy use, so using a general purpose foot or straight stitch foot whenever possible means you extend the life of your Walking Foot.

HELP! I'm sewing a layer of Minky fur to a layer of regular Minky, but it seems to be pulling the bottom layer more than the top layer resulting in obvious puckering throughout. 😕I've cleaned the feed dogs, put in a new stretch needle, tried different pressures and nothing seems to help. Thanks for the information. I have a slight problem. When I tighten my needle clamp screw to attach the needle clamp bar on the walking foot I cannot screw it tight enough to hold my needle. When I do, it's too tight and then my bar and walking foot won't move. When I loosen the clamp screw the bar and foot move but then the needle falls out. Suggestions? Longer needle clamp screw? If so, where do I purchase that? Thanks for any help!

I am sewing with cotton fabric. Like the kind you would use for quilting. I bought the SA188 open toe walking foot for my SE 400 Brother machine. Since posting my question I have tried taping the fabric. It still puckers and it seems like my foot shimmies my fabric to the left. I am at my wits end. I was thinking of returning the walking foot and getting another one. I have checked and the feed dogs on the walking foot move in sync with the feed dogs on my machine. I really appreciate you replying to my post.

In order to provide helpful information, I would need more details. Here are a few things that you could look at: make sure that the presser foot screw is tight enough, make sure that the arm of the walking foot is over the needle clamp screw, and double check if the walking foot is worn out. If you need a replacement walking foot, please let me know your make and model and I will be happy to see if we can help you.
