How to use additive EQ on rap vocals

In this tutorial I show you the last step in my vocal chain, additive EQing. I show you a before and after example on my vocal, displaying the enhanced clarity from using the eq to boost in a specific frequency range.

Aye g you should try doing higher boost in highs and at first will sound harsh but then put d-esser in chain and even use muiltiple d essers. Results can be crazy surprising good

Appreciate it playboy. I do use 2 de-essers in my chain for that exact reason. My boost usually depends on how my vocals sounds because I use a tlm 103 and my vocals coming out of it are very bright. Using your mic, at what dB do you usually boost the high end?

Do I have to eq each channel separately or i can eq it in a group channel

If you mean route the vocals to a vocal bus the eq them, then yes you can. But that's assuming you want them all eqed the same and all the levels are relatively the same. You may want to eq your doubles or adlibs(if you have them) different than your lead vocal.
