Love the content man! I'm an Aïkido black belt and I've been exploring ways to translate the art into my bjj and these videos are really helping!

Thanks I hope that people can see some of the value in aikido and that some of the methods will be preserved and integrated into martial arts as a whole.

Man oh man, more Aikido vids pls! haha, you're doing an awesome job. I personally still have troubles with getting the high fall or getting it to the ground, regardlss it at least can be a sneaky back take, and that's working for me so far.

A lot of it is pushing the elbow up high and then whipping it down.

nice. I have always had a high degree of confidence in sankyo since it works well, as you've demonstrated, against resisting opponents.

It's nice this is being done in a JJ context, but a lot depends here on an untrained opponent (i.e, the pulling back instead of closing the distance and grappling with you, and the complete non-use of their freehand which they might use to strike). I suppose this is useful in a self defense context, but there are issues with a trained opponent.

These guys are trained. It works on trained people regularly everyone wants to get their arm back. The off balance is too strong for people to strike if they were to regain balance then you have to move or block to deal with the free hand.

I am a competitive brown belt and I almost got caught in this by Will Ball while training live. It works you would just have to practice it as much as say a triangle or omoplata.

@@jamielovesmartialarts The vast majority of joint lock techniques are counters to such grabs, so you're actually entering into aikido's world, etc... initiating with that. There are a ton of techniques where you go with the pull to counter, not pull back. Judo wouldn't be very competitive if everyone wanted their arm back and immediately pulled back.

@@jamielovesmartialarts I can respect that, but i suspect it's because it was the first time you saw it. There's endless pulling on the arms in things like judo, and it's hardly true that everyone bites on it by pulling back.

That's not wrist lock that's Russian 2 on 1 grip in wrestling. People will react by pulling their hands when you grip like that. That's the moment when you shoot double single or body lock.
