BEST WAY TO USE AIRBRUSH PRIMER
Check out this short Video on how to get the BEST out of your airbrush by using Airbrush Primer from #vallejo
With any primer its best to let it dry for 24hr before painting on to get the great resistance for scratches and chipping.

Can I ask, what pressure you have the compressor at? Is distance from the model a factor (except for obvious spider webbing)?
@TwistedDice
@TwistedDice 3 жыл бұрын
hey Adam I set my air compressor @20-24 psi and it dose depends on size and where on the the model I’m priming. Distance is normally between 4 to 6 inches away from the model I hope that helps 😊

I appreciate the effort for this video, but there is honestly a lot of stuff I wouldn't do or recommend, especially for beginners. Firstly I also use the vallejo primer and its consistensy is fine already, I mostly use 2 to 3 drops of extra thinner and that's totally fine, too much thinner will prevent the primer from drying in place and can let it flow into cracks, having a wash effect, you do not want that with primer. Secondly you filled your cup almost to the brim with primer, also something I wouldn't recommend, if you move the gun it can easily spill out or if it clogs up, you have to empty the entire cup to clean the gun, only fill the cup up half max. And thirdly, something I see people do often, but that is absolutely terrible for the gun is the backblow...don't do that to your gun, it will blow paint into the backarea of the gun and clog it up, paint doesn't belong there and that part is really difficult to clean, a couple of my friends ruined their guns with this.

Hey GrailKnight Yes beginners probably would not be a good idea if you have used a airbrush before. When using the primer I only fill the airbrush cup half way so I don't spill any over my models and it can be a real pain when it dose spill. Interesting about the blowback I've always used that way of mixing my paint and not had any problems with my brush as yet. Think iv's had my badger airbrush for about 4 years now if not longer and they have been really awesome to work with. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment means a lot to us pal :) Darren

Thanks for the tip! I had some clogging before I saw the video. Don’t you have clogging still? One of the hard ways to get in my system is to keep the air flowing and only start/stop the paint. However in this ([articulat this?) video I hear you stopping the air immediately as well. I get a clog within a minute or so.

What I find helps for mixing is a Coke bottle top. Just pour it into the cup and you're away.

Ancient Chinese technics, wear gloves, so you don't get paint on your hands. Can you recommend a good compressor for beginners, peace, stay safe and sound.
@TwistedDice
@TwistedDice 4 жыл бұрын
Rubber gloves are a good shout buddy and normally do wear them when airbrushing. the one I've got is Sparmax TC-620X Professional Mini Twin Piston Airbrush Compressor (2.5 Litre Air Tank)not cheap but out the many I've had its been the best so far. We are going to do a video very soon on compressor and what to look for.
