Thank you so much for posting this...its SO helpful! I agree that you should do another video using it on the cat. This is complicated but I have found if you don't do the coding properly and also test your unit now and then, it really throws off the reading. The instructions say to prick the edge of the ear, but I have to use my cat's pawpad b/c its the only place he will allow this. I cocoon him in a big shirt with his head and one front paw sticking out. I use an alcohol swab first, then gently rub the area with a warm, wet towel so the blood is drawn to the surface, then dry it, then put a little vaseline on the area, so the blood beads up properly so you can get a good sample. For some reason, I never get a register with the first dip, I always have to use two strips, and the second one always registers. Very useful item that I couldn't do without. My cat is in remission now from diabetes, but I do spot checks once a month. He was fine, on wet food, per the vet, then I started giving him some dry for a few weeks in addition to the wet, and sure enough, his sugar started climbing again. So I went back to all wet and it was fine. But its so nice not to have to run him to the vet to do this because so often the stress at the vet will actually RAISE the blood sugar and you get inaccurate readings. I got my unit and supplies on Amazon, where they have ( I think ) the best prices.

Thank you so much for posting this. I misplaced the instructions to my meter and couldn't find online how to set the code for my cat. Your video showed me how. Thank you again!

Nice video, Earlier I had glucometer but since last few months I have been using the Libre sensor with Nightrider which helps me to get readings on the phone app every 5 minutes with alarms of out of ranges of glucose.

If I insert the test strip and my pet runs off can I put the unused strip back in the bottle for another time?
@CaledonMountainVet3 жыл бұрын
Hello Ricky, yes you can as long as you haven't touched the ends as the oils on the skin may affect the reading.

Does anyone know why sometimes ir doesn't give the right reading until I test it a 2nd time. The first one always gives me a 20 something number

Why didn’t you show how to get the blood sample from the cat?

Can't find any information on how to clear out the old readings from previous curve testing. For what I paid for this ($100) you'd think it would be made better. There's no back light, it's very slippery cheap plastic, it's easy to drop and break and it's very hard to figure out how to clear out old readings. I will not be buying this product ever again.

This is the best product there is. One of the most accurate methods to test your cat's blood sugar at the comfort of your home.

Showing how to use (with minimal detail) and on a HUMAN is not helpful!!
