One of the most versatile tools in the tool box. Please do not remove the safety features on your Angle Grinder. This will increase the tools effectiveness, but possible injuries will also increase. Good leather gloves is a must when using this tool, and eye/ face protection are what I use, which is required to keep a pretty face and limb protection.

SAFETY and PROPER USE ARE THE KEYS TO SUCCESS and you'll learn it here. okay. never used angle grinder before, though I have used power tools, and been hurt by two because I lost concentration for less than one second each time. almost cut my hand in half in one incident, sewed up by excellent doc, but nerve damage for 25 years so far. so, I watched this video CAREFULLY and gobbled up the comments regarding safety, too. then I went to work. this video was an excellent introduction to the angle grinder, and the comments were of enormous value. if you are a novice with this tool, no matter how many other tools you've used, take your time absorbing the info here. It's not a lot, but you'll end up with ten fingers, which you might like to take advantage of to give this video and the commentators two high fives. my job's done, I'm unhurt and happy to have learned how to use this powerful (say it again) powerful and incredibly useful tool.

Great video. I m an Aussie who worked in construction for a long time and still do a bit of work every few weeks. I 've cut up a lot of steel. All your tips are spot on. Angle grinders are not toys and must be used responsibly. Always use PPE, correct gloves, proper eye protection, glasses/goggles. Steel capped boots, or at least think leather boots. Ear muffs better to use also for those cutting on a regular basis.

@upwithpeoplelegal71413 жыл бұрын
Hi Jerry. I'm also a new user. A guy left this at the job-site, and I picked it up. I'm using it for...well the 2nd time, but the 1st time was way back in 2009 & I didn't have any eye/ear/hand/sleeve protections in place as I will today. I'm cutting an aluminum door guard...the one at the bottom of most doors. This is a mobile home, but the same is used on regular homes that have a wooden door. It's about a "1-mm" thick piece of aluminum, attached to the floor with screws & the screws are out. I installed this years ago, and I did it for life, so the inside frame at the bottom is holding & depressing this to hold in place...even after the screws came out...that's how perfect I figure things. I bought a metal-grinder bit-wheel -the smaller one. The carpet is still in place & it's glued down without any ease in removing it. I bent it a little to try & lift it up, but it wouldn't budge. Wish me luck!

My advice to new DIYers is that if it is your first time try to buy a weak or mini angle grinder and when you built your confidence you can go for higher amps and strong one , I have two angle grinders one cheap Chinese 10 dollars one and the other in Metabo , Believe me I carry all of my works with the cheap one . But the cheap one also is bad because the plastic is getting brittle and brakes cause danger , still I am not reach to that stage yet , also do not use your angle grinder for a long time continuously and not to forget your fatigue point that the brain get tired .

I had a lot of old pipes and rebar to cut up and from what I read kzbin.infoUgkxPDBfLu68o58Aw85O_J-zIFfjJARBhp-3 this would be the tool for the job. Since I had never used one, I watched a couple of youtube videos and I'm so glad I did. Some really good safety tips, which I followed, and this tool did a splendid job. One good thing to know is the weight of the tool puts just about the right amount of pressure on the metal I was cutting, so I didn't have to use a lot of pressure, which is more likely to jam the tool. It made fast work of my job.

1:14 I realize it's just like spinning car wheels while the car doesn't move. So spinning car wheels due to high speed is bad but with an angle grinder is just what you want. You don't want to go slow because then the angle grinder is getting traction and injuries are likely to happen. In the car analogy starting off slow is important to prevent slipping and ruin the wheels.
@justlooking47714 жыл бұрын
SE45CX That just really confused me.
@lazylaurablue7 ай бұрын
That made sense to me! When you start a car from stationery you don't want to be revving too hard straight away because the wheels will just turn and squeal and you won't move anywhere until they have got traction. You don't want traction on an angle grinder because that's what causes it to snag, so start off with fast speed straight away and move steadily through whatever you are cutting to avoid snagging, am I right?

Please check this with a professional and experienced metal worker ( I am neither). It's the direction of the spin of the disc that is very important I understand.. if it is spinning against the operator.. That is safer in case the grinder slips out of hand.. It moves Away from the operator. If it moves toward the operator.. It's extremely dangerous! It's more of safety takes precedence over comfort using a dominant hand. All the best, be safe

And i was only working with a small 500Watts grinder. Also ALWAYS wear ear and eye protection and gloves! Please!
@mrdojob6 жыл бұрын
All small grinders usually have those switches that lock into position as they're often held in unusual positions that don't allow a normal switch to be installed. I would recommend wearing overalls too as they're easier to avoid snagging.

It is not the grinder, it is you. I will always recommend a grinder with a lock on switch, you have more fingers to actually grip and hold on to the grinder properly instead of having to keep the pressure on some switch with some of your fingers.

@@paulmanzolillo9764 An angle grinder is actually a great tool for 45 degree cuts. Get some french chalk and an adjustable square as they have a 45 degree angle on them and mark out the 45 with a sharpened bit of chalk. Use a cut off disk as they make fantastic angled cuts. A 7 inch grinder with a cut off disk is actually a possible better choice for angled cuts than a 4.5 inch as they have a tendency not to wobble off the line as much as can cut through thicker materials. It's tricky to do those cuts however but once you do they'll almost look like a robot done them.
