The toothbrush you're showing in this video has a rotating head, but mine just vibrates. Is there any significant difference between the two types?
@sasuke657437 жыл бұрын
Dunno why but the average 30 sec for each quarter of the mouth seems impossible to me. I alwais have the fear that i move too fast making the work of the electric toothbrush ineffective so i tend to put it on 1 tooth at a time, moving slowly up and down and wait 2 sec for each side. This takes way too long so i'll try this method, now. I have the Oral B PRO Crossaction 2000. Also, thank you for the practical demonstration. It's way different from the ones made at computer graphic and much more clear.

Thanks for the help. I just got my electric toothbrush and wanted to make sure I was doing it right.

I use the Oral B9000 which has an indicator light if one presses too hard.Your gums are getting used to the electric toothe brush over a short period of about 2-3 weeks.During this time you might discover slight bleeding-which indicates possible plaque reservoirs. After the described "getting used-time" the gum is now non-sensitive. I consider the recommended brushing time of just two minutes as far too little-I always need for teeth , gums and tongue about 5 minutes.... 5x3 = 15 minutes a day . By the way ...if you brush your tongue(upper side) it can prevent bad breath......

Excellent video. I noticed that you said floss and use interdental cleaning before brushing. Different sources on the internet advocate both before and after. I have always flossed after but I suppose it makes some sense intuitively to do it first. A bit like sweeping a floor before mopping it! In any case what is your reasoning for flossing/interdental first?
@ajhedgerassociates28648 жыл бұрын

Thank you for this clear, concise video, it's been helpful! But I hoped to learn how one is meant to use the Oral-B precision tip brush head, does it replace flossing or is it used only when one has a dental appliance that needs to be worked around? Thanks again.
@ajhedgerassociates28648 жыл бұрын

Can electric toothbrushes cause damage to the tooth enamel from the extreme bristle movement compared to a manual toothbrush? Like, can the bristles moving at such a high speed cause abrasions in the tooth surface?
@ajhedgerassociates28647 жыл бұрын
No, if the electric toothbrush is used correctly, it should not damage the teeth. The only time where you can cause damage is if you brush immediately after eating or drinking acidic foods, such as citrus fruits. The acid in the food can damage the teeth and the toothbrushing can wear down the enamel. However, this problem can be caused by both manual or an electric toothbrushes.

how do we hold the electric toothbrush against the teeth?At 45° towards the gumline or away from the gumline or completely straight against the gum?Thank you

The toothbrush should be head on, flat against the tooth.

Does it have to be a brush that ocillates? My toothbrush just vibrates. It's called the Oral B Pulsar I think.
@ajhedgerassociates28647 жыл бұрын
The Oral B Pulsar is classified as a manual toothbrush, as although it has a battery in it, the main brushing movement is from you physically moving the toothbrush. Electric toothbrushes heads will move and brush even when you are holding it still. Research has shown that electric toothbrushes are better than manual toothbrushes but there isn't any strong evidence to say one type is better than another. We prefer and recommend the small, round oscillating head of Oral B toothbrushes.

I think that the Bass method would be much more suitable, especially because you can enter the sulcus (0,5 mm for a non electronic toothbrush and up to 1,5 mm with an electronic toothbrush) without traumatizing it.
@ajhedgerassociates28647 жыл бұрын
The Bass method is also a good method, although currently there is no strong evidence to say that one method is more effective than the other. We prefer this method, and review and modify each of our patient's technique, tailoring advice according to each individual's existing method.

It is safe to use electric toothbrushes on false teeth. Unless there is something wrong with the bridge, the toothbrush should not loosen nor damage it.

Is there any oral b brush with a lcd screen to tell you when the 2 mins are up i currently have quite a basic one oral b 2000 but the sound charging seems to happen before the 30 seconds stated in the manual.
@ajhedgerassociates28647 жыл бұрын
The Oral B 6000 has an LCD timer but the newer toothbrush models are now linked to an app that you can download onto your smart phone to monitor your toothbrushing. The 2000 should vibrate at 30 seconds and 2 minutes so if it isn't, it may be worth considering buying a new toothbrush.
