Ashwagandha (Withania Somnifera) is one of the most widely used herbs in Ayurveda. This is because it is considered an adaptogenic herb, which means it helps us to adapt to stress. As a result, most of us will have a need for this herb several times throughout a lifetime.
However, in this day and age, the liver is overheated as it filters a wide variety of very hot toxins coming from pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, industrial and environmental toxins and a highly processed diet filled with chemicals.
Therefore, the use of the crude herb of Ashwagandha given in tablet and tea form is hardly recommended due to its intense heating capabilities. Instead in my busy practice I use the vibrational version of this wonderful herb developed by my teacher Vaidya Mishra. We use herbal memory nectar drops and transdermal creams which have an immediate effect on the gaps and the cellular system without going through the liver to be digested, preventing its heating effects on the body.
The ancient doctors did say that they would not be able to foresee what would happen in the future and would rely on the future Vaidyas or Doctors of Ayurveda to make the necessary changes, always adhering to the principles outlined in their texts.
So this is one of the many changes my brilliant teacher and great award-winning herbal formulator had to make, especially when it came to the use of the very hot herbs such as Ashwagandha, in this modern era.

I have hypothyroidism and bi-polar mood disorder and I am sole care provider for 3 fatally sick siblings. I have using the Himalaya brand Ashwaganda for thyroid problem and to control the tsunamis of cortisol that flood my existence. What now? How can I obtain the correct treatment? I live in Italy and I am 65 years old. Sometimes I feel I am ripe and ready to die but my job in the family is not yet complete. Please reply.

I had a strange reaction when I took Ashwanganda around the same time as my blood pressure medication. They are both sedating so maybe that was the problem.

I used to take ashwagandha in the pill form, help me soooo much. After taking it for a couple years I noticed I would get angry, even little things just made me blow up. I had the same reaction to Turmeric and Ginger. My last option was l-theonine , but that to is doing the same thing.

You shouldn’t take Ashwagandha every day because your body adapts to it. Take it every other day or 5 days on 4 days off.

Please try the Epilobium herb from Western Herbalism. Also, you will need Zinc and Iodine.

Thanks Naveen. Can you direct me to the research, hopefully Ayurved, that supports Epilobium herb for prostate support? Vaidya Mishra made a Yasad (Zinc) Bhasma that we use for male clients And we also recommend Icelandic Kelp for iodine.
