Ashwagandha (Withania Somnifera) is one of the most widely used herbs in Ayurveda. This is because it is considered an adaptogenic herb, which means it helps us to adapt to stress. As a result, most of us will have a need for this herb several times throughout a lifetime.
However, in this day and age, the liver is overheated as it filters a wide variety of very hot toxins coming from pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, industrial and environmental toxins and a highly processed diet filled with chemicals.
Therefore, the use of the crude herb of Ashwagandha given in tablet and tea form is hardly recommended due to its intense heating capabilities. Instead in my busy practice I use the vibrational version of this wonderful herb developed by my teacher Vaidya Mishra. We use herbal memory nectar drops and transdermal creams which have an immediate effect on the gaps and the cellular system without going through the liver to be digested, preventing its heating effects on the body.
The ancient doctors did say that they would not be able to foresee what would happen in the future and would rely on the future Vaidyas or Doctors of Ayurveda to make the necessary changes, always adhering to the principles outlined in their texts.
So this is one of the many changes my brilliant teacher and great award-winning herbal formulator had to make, especially when it came to the use of the very hot herbs such as Ashwagandha, in this modern era.
