Azelaic Acid has been in the spotlight this week. I really think it’s an amazing active for summer as it tackles so many of the obstacles that stand in the way of bright, clear skin - the best accessory for warmer weather. It seems there’s still a lot of uncertainty about how to use it for best results so I’ve devoted this week’s video to how I use it, complete with demonstration. In fact, I’m creating an Azelaic Acid playlist on youtube so you can immerse yourself in this marvellous active!!!!
As always thank you so much for watching and for all your support!

I found it super helpful how you described the order you'd use with the niacinamide and vit c! Usually I don't follow channels that are related to brands but yours is an exception. The fact that ur videos r so informative about skincare as a whole, and how u mention other brands makes all the difference. It actually makes me trust your skincare brand that much more because it doesn't feel aimed at promos/etc., but on genuine informative content (not very common these days). I'd love if you could include your thoughts on iron oxides and micro current devices sometime!

funny thing is that in my country you can get azelaic acid 20% with no perscription and super cheap at that. Only recently I've came acros azelaic acid and it's been absolutely my life saver and hero. Nothing has worked on my acne for years, I've been to two dermatologists, the second one almost convinced me to try accutane. But this acid completely changed my skin. On top of hormanal acne I struggled too with rosacea and this is just a dream come true.

This is the perfect opportunity, Dr Sam, for me to thank you for recommending Azelaic acid to me in a comments section to one of your past videos. I had shared on that occasion that nothing seemed to be be helping with my erythematotelangiectatic rosacea and the terrible, terrible hours-ling, painful flushing it causes. I had thought, as had my GP, that Azelaic acid is only helpful for Papular pustular rosacea, but you said you thought otherwise and suggested I give it a try... Well, I have and it has made all the difference to my skin, which, after only one week, has markedly less redness and (as you like to say) my 'smoke alarm in the kitchen' no longer 'goes off' quite as readily whenever 'the kettle boils'! :-) I'm so grateful to you! Thank you also for your fab products... especially Flawless Gossamer Tinted, which has finally given me a sunscreen I actually enjoy wearing! It feels more like the perfect face-brightening cosmetic than some kind of boring 'necessity'. You nailed it! 🥰

Suffered for 1 1/2 years with that. Finally went away but it turned into Rosacea. I am getting relief. The pain is not as bad but will be also trying Acupuncture tomorrow. I get some relief with Tylenol but I cannot take that my whole life. - same with Gabapentin. I prefer not to be on big Pharma at all if I can help it. This is the most detailed and concise video I’ve watched on Azelaic Acid usage. I had purchased the Paula’s Choice version after hearing of its benefits and how it would improve my list of skin problems (redness, sensitive, pigmented spots) but upon first use I did have a itchy sensation. Being part of the sensitive skin brigade, it freaked me out so it went back into the drawer, never to see the day of light again… after watching this video, I feel more equipped with knowledge and I’ll give it another chance

Same, I felt stinging and itching so I stopped using AzA. Since I have sensitive type 1 rosacea these symptoms are usually a red flag that the product doesn’t agree with my skin. Then, with further investigation, I discovered that this reaction should dissipate after 2-4 weeks of use. Options for the skin to get accustomed to AzA are; using it every other day to start, using less than a finger tip amount and or moisturizing first.
@co0kii
@co0kii 3 жыл бұрын
@@jewels8363 It sure is unnerving whenever I do apply it because it stings quite noticeably. I’ve used it every 2nd day for a bit over a week and found it to sting a little less when I put it on after a thin layer of moisturiser first.
@jewels8363
@jewels8363 3 жыл бұрын
@@co0kii yeah, those of us with sensitive, rosacea skin immediately stop any product that stings or itches for fear that we’ve broken our skin barrier. I do find it ironic that AzA is meant to calm and control rosacea yet it causes stinging, redness, burning and itching. I wish the video addressed more of the side effects. Although I do feel reassured now that it’s temporary and I’m not causing any damage. If the side effects don’t subside though I may need to step down from 15% to 10%.

In Australia we are fortunate to be able to buy 20% Azelaic over the counter at pharmacies. I use the Ego brand Azclear Action Azelaic Acid Medicated Lotion. It's only about AU$15. I have never had any sensitivities to it whatsoever...only speedy results. I only use it in the evenings, (or on make-up free days when I'm inside at home), as it pills when wearing sunscreen and/or foundation. 👱‍♀️❤

@@co0kii I buy my Azclear Azelaic Medicated Lotion from Chemist Warehouse or Priceline. Sometimes the (blue & white) box/shelf space is empty and there will be a sign that you get the product from the Pharmacists' counter. Make sure you don't buy the Azclear Soothing Lotion by mistake, although that is very good too...my son likes it to calm razor burn. They have a cleanser in their range too, which is also good; but (like the soothing gel) it doesn't actually contain azelaic acid, but compliments the azelaic lotion. @@NYS30 It can irritate your skin, but it depends on the person. It’s kinda rare. It will cause purging as it slowly exfoliates the skin (don’t look at it as an exfoliator though. It’s mild).
