We are a collective of artists and musicians based in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and are trying to expand and start our own music label. Thanks for this video and we look forward to watching more of your content! ⚡️

Hey brother hope your finding yourself well in this crazy year. Im glad to find an artist from the UK talking about all this on youtube, i have tried going through your channel a little and you have such an amazingly packed library of videos i am finding it a little difficult to see if you have any videos on setting yourself up legally in the UK like copywriting your productions, registering with a Performing rights organisation, trademarking your artist name or even operating under a LLC if you do have such a video(s) could you let me know which ones(s) they are if not i would really love it if you made one as 90% of this stuff available out there is all USA focused it really would be awesome to see some UK focused ones on those issues!! Anyway thanks for the videos you have made im learning alot from them!

Hey Joseph, I haven't done much on those topics but I'll add them to the research list for the future! I will say that I am signed up to PRS and have done for many years if that helps at all

i'm thinking of using this method as a way to put releases from my unofficial DIY imprint label, as i already have a label account for my main unofficial DIY label. Just different projects of mine i decided to separate for organizational purposes. So in this case, losing the sidebar on the page wouldn't be too much of a dealbreaker for me. i could just link it on the sidebar of the label account for people to get to it that way

Whilst I do like having the Bandcamp Label Pro account I do think there needs to be more features for the price.

I kinda agree, makes sense if you're managing a lot of artists so they also reap the benefits though. For me, it'd just be all me and the projects I'm involved in. I think the free method is a good testing ground before you springboard to the paid version, especially if you're not bringing in enough to cover the costs. There could be way more they could do to entice more people though, I agree there

Spanks so much. Also great for artists who release on many labels and want to link to labels!

The fourth option , to go to the index page for labels, seems to be abstent in my editing board. It seems as for 2021 they made the new free label options disappear.

Hello dear, nice guide. A question: is it normal that when you use the free method you can't change the page design colours? the button "page design" in the menu doesn't appear. thank you Marco

Very useful...food for thought! Following the free Bandcamp option for a label, does the artist or label upload the album? It seems common for both an artist and a label to have the releases on their own Bandcamp page. In which case, if the album is on both pages, who (and how) does the payment go to?

Great video, thinking of doing a label promoting mostly my own stuff plus some artists I know, most of these are on BC but aren't really pushing their page, or some have stopped making music altogether. Looking at some label accounts on BC it looks like they link to the artists' BC page, just wondering do you know how a label gets paid if the traffic goes to the band page.

Hey, if you go for the paid label account you can set payments at the 'release' level. So, you can pick and choose which album payments go to you or the artists :)

Thx man, this makes it a lot easier for me in getting things clear. 🙂Do you know what happens with the artist page, when i transform into a label? Probably there will be another Artist Sub-Account of that one being created, right? Cheers from Switzerland

Just updating that the option in the 'free' method of choosing "go to my index page" has been removed from free/artist accounts :/

Hello, great video thanks! Question, does opening a bandcamp label require any legal action, like registration as a legal business?
@MrSteJ Жыл бұрын
Nope! Although you’ll have to declare taxable earnings!

Can you release music on Bandcamp in addition to the streaming sites?
@MrSteJ4 жыл бұрын
Yes! There’s no issue there at all with doing that 🙂
