How to use Canva to create SVGs for Cricut Design Space

Somehow missed this when it went up, usually i watch your stuff immediately 😊. Two of my favorite Canva apps are TextGradient and TypeCraft. The gradient one does exactly what it sounds like. TypeCraft is super helpful, it lets you create text like in Illustrator. You can distort, shape, arch, etc. Save it as an svg and it's perfect. I use it a lot to put words inside of images. Thanks!

Okay but why when I save on Canva as an SVG with Transparent background does it not work the same? It is acting like I am not saving as an SVG file and when I open in Design Space it is a black square cut file. I am following these steps exactly. :’(

@@MischiefWithNita are you going into Inkscape and fixing the layers? If you don’t do that then your SVG won’t work.

This is so informative! Thank you! Here's my question. I, like someone said, created a Transparent background Svg in Canva, and got a black square when I opened it in Design Space. But, in the tutorial, you successfully and simply created a transparent bavkground svg in Canva and uploaded into Design space without getting the black square before going to Inkspace. My design couldn't be mire simple, one word, arched, in varsity font "RINGETTE". What did i do wrong? Lol

Nothing. Canva and cricut don’t always communicate well. That’s why this video shows you how to use inkscape to correct them

I would like to learn how to use Inkscape but I have heard it is very hard to learn. Do you have a video on learning Inkscape? I like Canva but I have issues with sizing designs. Any suggestions?

It is 100% not hard to learn anyone who says it is just gave up too quickly. I have a playlist on my channel with my inkscape tutorials.

To download as an SVG yes you do.

Kinda confused. Why wouldn’t you just use design space to make this svg? I’ve recently been looking around on Canva to see what I would do with it that I can’t do in Design Space . 🤔

Because when you design in design space there is no way to take it back out without losing quality or having to take a ton of steps to even make it into an SVG. Design space is also super unreliable and glitchy. If someone wants to own their work they need to design outside of the cricut software.
