Great information. How are the exposure and shutter speed values of the colors. How many stops of each color? This is the missing information.
@filmismorefun5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion! I wanted to make this a very easy to understand video for people just starting to use filters, and didn't want to include too many details as to confuse people. I remember when I was starting out, it took a while before I was able to get the concept of stops of light. If they follow the link to the freestyle article though, that will give a further explanation including compensating for the loss of light when using the filters. But to answer your question- these filters I used in the video are: Yellow (Y2) 1 stop Orange (O) 1 1/3 stop Red (25A) 3 stops 🙂

@@filmismorefun thank you for your information. Very interresting on youtube. Everyone talks in the video's on youtube talks about the colors, but nothing about what it does with the values stops.

I always use orange filter when the sky is in the frame. Except with my 40mm medium format lenses, because I couldn't find orange ones, and then I use yellows.
@filmismorefun4 жыл бұрын
It definitely adds more drama to the sky!

I have a Red filter and don’t let it much to strong of an effect for my liking. I also have an Orange and it is just about right. I just bought a green filter yesterday because I live in a rainforest and I want to brighten the greens. But I haven’t had a chance to shoot with it yet.
@filmismorefun6 жыл бұрын
I agree, the red can give a dramatic effect which can be to much for some scenes, but it can also bring out life in a landscape wonderfully in certain conditions.
@terrywbreedlove6 жыл бұрын
filmismorefun I like what the red does with the skies and puffy white clouds but yea it can get too contrasty pretty fast. I know Micheal Kenna uses a Red filter a lot I have seen his prints in s gallery and they are stunning.

filmismorefun He lives in Seattle which is about 4 hours drive from here. His work is at the Gibson gallery in Seattle and I am always popping up over there to check it out. Plus we email each other once in awhile super nice guy. Some of the best darkroom printing I have seen.

Try and add a polarizer along with the color filters. See what you can do.

No green filter? Very good for lightening up foliage in a forest or any dense greenery

Indeed it is. It's not one of my most used filter colors though.

You didn’t say anything about changing the F stop when you use color filters
@filmismorefun2 ай бұрын
@@pyromancyglassart8975 That's true, you do need to compensate for the filter factor. It doesn't necessarily need to be the f stop, it can also be adjusted with your ISO or shutter speed.
