for me the fill tool works faster and it is within the same quality as the colorize mask, depends on the thickness of the lineart mine is above 4 to 5 pixels so using the fill tool with 2 or 3 pixel bleed is perfect. colorize mask is more accurate but it is way too complicated, i have tried both alternatives and i always go with the bucket fill tool

@@axturm set the color mask as a short cut, this will help with efficiency.

What of using enclose fill tool? I think it might have been a faster process here. Just outline and it fills the hand in grey. That tool seems like a more advanced colorize. It has close gap options, it fills stuff in areas and leaves outside transparent. It doesn't seem to leave the white artifacts on edges. Actually looking closer how that works it might be good to set grow to -1 cause it starts filling in from the edges of the outlines, so if there is anti alias going on it can fill the transparent areas creating an artifact outline. Ah, then again, it's a bit different, it's about enclosing areas. So perhaps more complicated stuff mask might work better. I don't really use either so I wouldn't know the details.

@@Utrilus the regular fill tool doesn't fill tight enough. Hopefully Krita will fix that eventually. I use the colorized mask because the fill has no exposed pixels around the edge of the drawing. At the end of the day it will look better when you rendering the animation if you use the colorized mask.

@@animationstationm I was referring to the *enclose and fill* tool, not the regular *fill* tool. Also in tool options the regular fill tool can be set to *grow* fill by 1 or 2 pixels to fix the not tight enough issue. And for enclosed fill it can be reduced by 1 or 2 to counteract the opposite issue of fill almost spilling out of the lineart, when the lines are anti-aliased.

@@Utrilus That is so cool. I don't think I've tried that. If it works I'll do a video on it. Thank you Utrilus!

@@Utrilus Just tried it, Honestly the "grow fill by 1 and 2" is more then enough to save tons of time - I will be using that going forward. Thanks!

@@animationstationm The weakness of the fill tool in the current version of krita is that it has no close gap option. I'm using an 5.3 alpha built from github which has close gap on the fill and selection tools as well. So hopefully when the next version comes out all of these tools have close gap.
