Wow! These are some really helpful tips. I never really knew the one with the little magnet would be so useful. Thank you.

Dude this saved me so much fucking time. Been searching the entire web yesterday for how to colour and it’s either a 30 min video or something unrelated (usually both actually). God bless you!

Thank you very much for making this tutorial. The Krita manual is difficult for me to read, and your concise demonstrations are appreciated.

Thank you so much for making this, super helpful! I used to have to just manually paint my colors and then erase outside the lines and it took so much time. This should speed up my process so much!

I am just new to digital art, so this video was super helpful! I love that you included shortcuts. I always wondered how people were so good at selection with freehand because I have to restart constantly from my hand twitching while trying to trace complex shapes, but now I suspect it is duplicate layer then magnetic selection tool! I'm off to look up what alpha lock is now. (I subscribed too)

I think fixing those unconnected lines and using the contiguous selection tool ("magic wand" in ps) is much faster than this method. The magnetic selection method requires you to zoom in and trace the edges of the entire lineart.

Krita has a dedicated coloring tool which automatically detects and fills flat colors, then you just need to separate them to individual layers with a simple command BUT I really prefer to do this with selections and fill method because... I feel the coloring tool to be very mechanical and boring 😅 I know it's just a feeling, with selecting and stuff I feel like I'm drawing, just with a little help, so this video was very informative to me, there are tons of selection tools I didn't know existed 🤗

Hi could u possibly make a tutorial for how u made it to show red like urs ? Where u can’t color it in that red area

Hi! Thanks for pointing it out. (I miss the explanation there and my big face is in the way, lol) After the selection in Krita, on the right in your layers, scroll to the top and you will see "selection mask" as a top layer. Press it and it will show the red thing on the canvas. Hopefully that works ~

Thanks for the video. What are you pressing to make the non selected area appear as a light red color?
@DigitalDrawing-Chris

after you select an area, at the top of all the layers (in the layer columns), there's a "selection mask" where you can click to view the red area. 😊

Hello! After the selecting an area in Krita, on the right in your layers, scroll to the top and you will see "selection mask" as a top layer. Press it and it will show the red thing on the canvas. (unfortunately I haven't found any shortcut for this "red"zone ) . sry, my big head is in the way lol

Or you could save a heap of time and just use the colorize mask tool.

Colorize mask does save time but the lasso-based methods should probably be the first to learn since colorize doesn't create an ideal mask, it gets you to 80%.
