Me personally, I prefer to use two Waves SSL compressors, make them bus effects, use one for the bass sounds and one for the percussion and the rest of the sounds. Also, adding compression to individual drum sounds is way better as you have a lot more freedom. As for the compression in Reason, it’s not very professional in my opinion. I used to use it, but the SSL waves one works much better.

Good question! Not at all a problem! It just means that the amount of bus compression you should do when mastering is way less.

I said the workflow of Reason sucks (which it does!) I still think that it is a fun and inspiring creative tool, and I still use it for a couple of songs a month because I enjoy using it. It's not all about productivity - but for me productivity is also important, so that's why I don't use Reason most of the time anymore.
