Thank you for the reference. I appreciate the dictation built-in into the Apple products! It helps everyone regardless of their conditions, because when I have to prepare a long text, it is easier for me just to dictate it, and then edit it by typing.

Even though the voice control feature has more commands than the standard dictation feature accessed by the microphone button to the left of the space bar, the standard dictation feature is far more accurate in my opinion. It's just a pity that the standard dictation feature doesn't have all the commands that the voice control feature has. Not to mention the voice control feature sucks the battery life.

Completely agree. Voice control dictation is so much worse to the point of being on usable but then it’s only possible in American English, which might be the problem. For disabled UK users it’s more false advertising by Apple. I just wish they would test it on disabled people. Completely agree re-dictation it’s so much more accurate, also doesn’t crash leaving you repeating yourself over and over until you give up!

When this feature was first introduced, it worked with voiceover. However, since an update to iOS 13, it stopped working with voiceover. I was hoping that iOS 14 would fix it, but it still doesn't work with voiceover. The problem is voiceover does not give any feedback while using voice control. I am blind but fortunately, I am able to use the various voiceover gestures. However, people who are blind and also have problems with using touch screens were very excited about this feature, because they could finally use an iPhone. However, this is now no longer the case. Also, people like myself would use voice control to operate our phones in situations where using our hands wasn't possible, such as when cooking or washing the dishes. I found voice control useful to enable me to control my phone in these situations, without getting it wet or dirty. This really needs fixing, as it will enable a lot more people to enjoy using their iphone as I do every day.

Why doesn’t this work on the iWatch? I use my iWatch to reply to messages all the time but I don’t see any options to change words that weren’t correct. I have to either redo the message or send a new message with the corrections

I love dictation But I really wish there was a setting to keep the microphone on the phone listening even when connected to a blue tooth device. If I am connected to my car Bluetooth or a speaker across the room my Dictation becomes completely useless

Well for me this all doesn't work, Siri just types the command. When I say "delete previous character" it just types that. Same with "undo that", and so on,..... Is there something I'm missing in settings here. Everything else is working like it should. Please help somebody.

When your answering the phone with a headset on, or calling a company where you have to enter different numbers after the automation answers the phone & the voice prompts tell you to push different numbers on the company your callings menu, can you have the voice prompt in the command mode or dictate mode push the numbers on the phone for the dept your trying to connect to w/o physically having to push the number?

It's not possible, it also seems to change his mind whether to write eight numerically or the actual word. The only way you can do it theoretically, if you are American, because any other accent really hampers is this, is to individually spell by bringing up the keyboard, using the show numbers function and quite literally spending the next 10 minutes doing IT letter by letter, probably less if you’re American. I think it’s because you’re simply using dictation. I did that at first too lol. Voice control is something else you need to activate in your settings. After that you can just use your iPhone with your voice.

It's laboriously slow but if you're American it might work, you have to bring up the keyboard, use the show numbers function, and then do it character by character. That seems to be the only way. Otherwise it seems to flip between the two sometimes numbers sometimes spelling mode, completely unpredictably. Wish you luck!

I am totally at odds with this program. It won't spell my son's name correctly no matter what I do. It also requires I speak the King's english better than I do -which, honestly, is already very decent. My son's name: Sol. Every time I use voice control it writes 'Saul' -I would be soooo happy to remove that proper noun from its memory, and have to type it in if ever I should need it, so that it would write 'Sol.' It also mis-transcribes. So, for example, if I say I am 'going to' eat ice cream. It often writes 'gonna.' I never want to write 'gonna' unless I want covertly to discuss a venereal disease. And I wish I could prevent the thing from writing curse words. Sometime I will say something that has a sound like Sh** -but I would never want that to show in a text.

Yes that’s a serious question for me also. I find it so annoying when it has taken down my dictation correctly, and then three seconds to seven seconds later changes it to something completely wrong!
