Hello. Thanks for the very good tutorial, although it didn't answer a question I have. When and Why do you use the dome light? For what reason instead of the normal skylight? What does it change or allow you to do, besides HDRIs, that the normal sunlight cant?
@ArchitectureInspirations

HDRI gives you a more dynamic environment, it has a realistic background and realistic reflection

Thank you so much ! I just use your directions for a work I was doing today. It turned out quite nice. I find that when I use an HDRI sky, it always starts very dark. Is there a way to adjust the light separately or ( sun ) intensity, and the sphere light ?
@ArchitectureInspirations
@ArchitectureInspirations 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah you just have to increase the intensity by a lot and if it gets too bright then use the highlight burn function to reduce the washed out areas of the render ^.^

Hey! Thanks a lot for another useful video.! it´s simple, amazing and great the way to learn with your videos. Do you use only the Dome light for ilumination? The SunSky is off? In older version of Vray i use the sun enviroment for increase the effect of the shadows and make a little more "sun day effect". You only use HDRI and Camera parameters?(iso,..etc) Thanks a lot again! -great video as always-

Thank you very much for this tutorial! I have a question. You have used the method of locking the dome light and then rotate it manually. Is it adjusting the UVW of the texture and playing with the horizontal and vertical value the same thing? Will you obtain the same result? Thanks

Thanks for the response! I have only recently upgraded to the new Vray for sketchup, as I was using Vray 2 still. I'm having a hard time to configure the Vray sun Engine in 3.4. I have tried everything, but I just don;t get the same result like I did in Vray 2. Basically increasing the sun settings to illuminate an interior scene. If you could in any way help with the normal sun settings, that would be awesome! Thanks again for the response.

The easiest way to maybe help me, is to explain your lighting setup in your realistic Materials video? The last part where you explain the addition of a reflection map. I tried making my own version of that part, but I only get light coming in on small precise spots, if that makes sense.

+Ruan ahh gotcha! The sunlight alone might not be enough. You might want to try increase exposure value or even use rectangular lights. I cover it briefly in my dining room video😄

Really good video. I just have some problems with the shadow on my model. The sunlight seems to be directly on the top of my model makes it look darker specially on parts with eaves. Wish you could help me. Thanks a lot

Are you using sunlight or HDRI for lighting? If sunlight then adjust sketchup shadows settings. If HDRI then just change to a different HDRI

@@ArchitectureInspirations I'm using the HDRI setting and turned off the sunlight. I just changed the HDRI and works well now. More cool videos from you. Thanks 👍

sir, i have an issue with my vray, the thing is: in my vray Dome Light asset editor, theres no "Spherical" & "Lock Dome Light" to check, so, my HDRI image is always cut in half... my vray is 3.40.03

thanks for your tutorial . i want to ask,why my dome light direction didn't match the shadow direction? instead, it just follow the HDRI lighting direction.

Hi. Did you turn off the sun light? And if you did and it's still wrong then it's probably because of the HDRI. Hdrihaven.com has lots of good hdri :)

@@ArchitectureInspirations then what will happen if hdri has 3 high light point(like tunnel or something) . will scene still generate one shadow?
