I used the blue green gold on a black hooded cape on a table top miniature wizard character and it made his cape look very much like it was created with powerful magic. Super cool and I've not seen any other table top mini with a look that even comes close.

I've bought some and experimented, incredible results, people ask me how I did it. Apply this onto any acrilic paint and magically turns it into an amazing finish. I put my first coat of glaze then spray a polyurethane coat then another glaze coat and a poly finish coat and wow. Chess pieces round stones art work, practice you'll see.

I'm actually using the blue/violet/red on my 08 Civic. Got fifteen bottles and coating the car til I run out. Letting it cure for a day or two then gonna coat with Rust-Oleum Colorshift Cosmo Blue then throw on some clear to seal it all in. Already got the black matte coat done. Used this stuff on the rims and portions of the hubcaps. So far it looks great and does what it's supposed to.

They do cost more than standard acrylic paint, but I don't think they are as costly as many specialty paints.

Yes, you can absolutely seal the project when you are done. I would give the glaze a day or two to cure before adding the sealant just to be safe.

I am sorry that I am just seeing this comment! You definitely need to seal it before using it. It's not a waterproof formula, so it would wear off when you washed the hydroflask. Hope this helps!

Is dragonfly glaze like unicorn spit? There are so many new mediums out there that I get cofused...Before I invest any more money, I need to know if I can do the same thing with what I have. Unicorn spit is a very different product than Dragonfly Glaze. Unicorn Spit is more like a translucent stain, while Dragonfly Glaze is a clear medium with color shifting pigments suspended in the glaze.

These seem to have a larger grained pigment than the original color-shift paints. Is that the only difference, do you think? I have a few of those, and love them; I'm just wondering what the difference between the two is.

I will see if I can make a video soon showing the difference! The main difference is that the Color Shift is a paint, so it is a base color of pigment that will cover your project with color. Dragonfly Glaze is just a glaze, so the shifting pigments are suspended in a clear base. It doesn't cover your project with color like paint does. I applied all of these glazes over black paint.

Could this be mixed with fabric medium to paint on fabric like a regular acrylic paint? I have a patch of fabric I’ve painted black with acrylic/fabric medium and I wanted to put glitter on it. If I used this w fabric medium over that would it work?

I am not sure it would be safe to get wet. I would be afraid it would wash off. FolkArt has a line of fabric paints that work very well. You could try those out.

question! does it matter what paints you put this over? i do a lot of scale modelling using Tamiya alcohol based paints, as well as Vallejo. Do you know of any issues painting over those top coats?

I have never tried it myself, but I would worry that the two products would have an unwanted reaction that could ruin the look of the project. I would definitely advise you to do some trial runs before trying the glaze on any of your models.

I have a project I want to start for Christmas gifts would this work on bisque ceramic with black matte Spray paint under coat? Would I have to fire or steal them? If yes what sort of sealer would you recommend?

You should not need to fire them. If they will be exposed to water, you might consider a clear sealant over the dried glaze.

It can, but it does not have opaque coverage since it's a topcoat/glaze.

I've never used it with an airbrush, so I can't give you an answer on that question. The pigments in the glaze are quite small, so I think they would still work with small models.

Let the paint fully dry before applying the glaze. You don't need to seal it unless it is going to be exposed to water. I would let the glaze dry for a full 24 hours before applying a clear sealant.

I recently bought a bottle of the full spectrum shift. When I opened it there was a bit of liquid but mostly just a big rubbery glob. No amount of shaking or stirring would mix it. Do you know of a way I can get this mixed so I can use it.

I would return it to the store. It seems like you may have gotten an old or faulty batch of glaze.

It can, but it is a shimmering glaze not a paint. It will not give you opaque coverage.

This is a water-based product, so you should not use real paint thinner with it. If you would like to dilute it, use water or acrylic pouring medium. It will definitely lower the impact of the shimmer though.

It is difficult to find sealers that are both waterproof and food -safe. I am not sure if I know of any off-hand.

It's usually a good idea to prime resin before adding acrylic paint so that it sticks and is more durable.

The glazes are not washable or safe for outdoor use. If you think they will see wear and tear, I would use a clear sealant over the glaze. Hope that helps!

Yes, that is the full spectrum version. It definitely has the least pigment spread of the 6 varieties of Dragonfly Glaze, but the rainbow shift is more pronounced in person than you can see on video.

So the rainbow color spectrum has a smaller mica gradient than the other colors, which means you have to make dozens of coat in order to see it a lot better. The other glazes have a higher mica gradient so therefore there is more color.

Hi! I used the these over spray paint and a sanded stainless steel cup. I even sealed it with a clear top coat. I let it dry for 2 days and the glitter came off like stripes. What did I do wrong? Does it only work on Acrylic paint?

Oh no! Spray paints are (almost always) oil based. You can apply a oil paint over acrylic without issue, but you can't put acrylic over oil because it will peel or crack.

I used it to spray a motorcycle gas tank , just make sure to thin it out and be careful not to mix enamel and lawyers may take several coats also but it's worth the effort

You can mix it in, but I think it would diminish the look of the color shifting pigments. I would recommend using it as a top coat over whatever color you are using.

They are water-based, so you can thin them with a small amount of water.

Make sure you shake it really, really well before use. If that doesn't work, try setting it upsidedown for a few hours. The pigment may have settled to the bottom of the bottle. If that still doesn't work, return it. You may have gotten a faulty bottle. Hope it helps!

I tried the "Full Spectrum" variety of Dragonfly Glaze over FolkArt satin black paint (fully dried before applying the glaze), and am very disappointed. The result is just very black with teeny sparkles and the overall look is unimpressive. I just watched your KZbin video hoping that I did something wrong, and I'm sad to see that your use of the "full spectrum" color is just as disappointing as mine. If I had viewed your video first, I wouldn't have bothered buying this product. 😒

I am sorry that you had a bad experience with the full spectrum! It is the least full coverage from the line. I really did love the rest of the line, so I hope you get a chance to try one of the other colors someday with better results!

Yeah, I had the same result. Sure it's a pretty galaxy-type appearance, but not the colour shift that I'd expected from the other bottles. It looks like it does ok with the 2-3 colour styles, but the full spectrum is very...not.

This is bs. I used the full spectrum over matte black and it didn't look like these results. Yes, I did shake the bottle. This is a sponsored video so either these bottles were altered or something else is not authentic

I promise you there was nothing altered about my glazes. As I mention in the video, the full spectrum has the widest spread of the pigment (most empty space between the reflective bits), so you have to use many more coats than the other glazes in the line.

If you look at the part where she shows each one the full spectrum one is the one that has the least color coverage, all the others work amazingly! I have them all but the full spectrum because I didn't think I'd be happy with that one.
