1:49 "So what you want to do now is go into your drum module's MIDI bank and assign each trigger to each note for each drum." I sure would like a clearer explanation of this. I'm sitting here with the exact same TD-10 Module, a Focusrite Clarett+8Pre, trying to integrate Superior Drummer 2 into ProTools and I'm completely lost as to how to assign the trigger inputs to their counterparts in SD2, as well as having an individual track for each in ProTools. A kick, snare and 5 toms.

it would be in the advanced trigger settings in the TD10 :)

Cheapest module by far is the Alesis I/o. For about $150 there are lots of cheap trigger choices if you just want to convert a cheap used acoustic kit. All in all try to get Roland triggers as they are the best, and I have tried them all including diy.

Am I able to eliminate using an audio interface? Can I just use my drum module and triggers and plug my headphones straight into the module? I know I won’t be able to use ezdrummer but would I atleast be able to hear the trigger audio real-time from the module? Thanks
@WowFan9917 жыл бұрын
So you plug the MIDI from the drum module into the MIDI IN of the audio interface. Your PC is connected to the audio interface with a USB cable and it reads MIDI information right, you don't need any additional cables?

do you make an hybrid with mics and triggers or just triggers?
@larzblast7 жыл бұрын
You can turn your acoustic kit into a purely electric kit by just running triggers. Otherwise, if you want a blend of your acoustic kit's sound and your triggered sounds, then you need mics and triggers. Think of a trigger as just a switch (I know, it's oversimplifying it). Switches don't pick up and transmit sound like microphones. They just sense a hit and trigger your drum module to make a sound. That's why they're called triggers.

I guess what I don´t get about triggers is that, if you´re going to have a real drum set and then have it all triggered, then what´s the point about having a real drum set, when you can have the same results with an electronic drum set. I don´t know, maybe there´s something I´m missing, but that´s just how I feel. Great video btw.

So for a Roland v-drum set, if I want to trigger a real drum kit, it’s as simple as plugging the triggers into the corresponding input of the v-drums, and I should get a pretty similar result as the v-drum kit?

I can't get the latency below 1.5ms with EZD2, ddrum chrome elite triggers on an acoustic set with regular Remo heads, ddrum DDTi midi/trigger interface and my TASCAM 20x20 USB 3.0 audio interface. My comp is Windows 10, 16GB RAM, Intel i7 6700k w/ USB 3.0. Doesn't sound too noticeable live (other than when the sound starts cutting out for whatever reason I have yet to discover), I want to achieve a synchronized blend of the acoustic set and the EZD2 sounds both for live and recording applications. I tried recording both at once.. major latency. I had to physically adjust the EZD2 tracks in the DAW to get them to line up. Why can't I just have everything I want??? Why is there no EZD for iPAD?

Hi. I bought all the items you listed. They are in the mail. I heard you say” no dynamics with triggers “. I saw a vid of nick D Virgilio doing a deal for Superior drummer 3 using a tad-50. He had dynamics. I’m thinking the Td17 will have that capability. In this setup you using, same as I just ordered, can you set up a chain of drum sets ? I did that with my TD-20 years ago. I used double foot switches to go up and down the chain. I bought ezdrummer 2 for $89 at Sweetwater. After I’m proficient in that I’ll get the SD3 for $299 more. Thx. Hope you or someone can answer this question

Hey Samus, I have my acoustis drum set with mesh heads; to have better sound (correct me if I'm wrong or missing something) I'm thinking to have the ddrum Chrome Elite Triggers, connected to the ddrum DDTi Drum Trigger Interface. Then the DDTi will be connected to my computer that will be running the daw: PreSonus Studio One 6 Artist to record. In order to have all separated signals (snare, toms, kick) goin in the daw, to later change between different sound options of EZ Drummer, will all described above be enough? ...anyone reading can also answer this, in detail please.

Love your videos. I watched another video of yours where you had your own custom samples of triggering as well. Can this be done using the RolandTM-2 without using a computer? Our concern is playing live/ low latency without the computer and having our own custom samples for certain songs ( gonna probably build our own triggers into overalls or something). Our budget is small, but we will put in the work to make it good. Thanks a lot for your videos!

Will any DAW software work with this, or is there a preferred brand. I noticed you are using Sonar 8 Producer. If I'm understanding the function correctly, the DAW software shouldn't matter as long as there is control for MIDI functions. Am I in the right ball park?
@TheZooCrew7 жыл бұрын
You'll need MIDI and (preferably) compatibility with VST plugins. Make sure your computer recognizes your audio interface and installs the right driver for it. Some DAWs won't work with 3rd party VSTs, so you're stuck with whatever instruments are already there. Also make sure you can adjust for latency. I use Tracktion 5 because it's free and things seem to work fine.

Saludos!
@kepadrestardespierto7 жыл бұрын
