Hi do you know how to install the EV-1 to be used as a volume swell pedal. On a board I usually place my Dunlop mini volume pedal before the wet effects to do swells

Hi Tony, thank you for this tutorial. I am new to the FM9 and just now found out that you when you create a loop, it is not saved when you power off the FM9. So I think I may need to plug my Boss RC5 as an external effect pedal. My question is should the output and input 3 be at the end of the chain just before the final output to the monitors?

Can the new loop created be controlled by one of the onboard switches on the FM9? I would like it so that you could created scenes with or without the new effect added.

Thanks much Tony - quick question - I've been using Tonex with the AXE III Turbo for quick access to eq while playing but I just noticed a bit of a phase sound and just figured out Tonex is 44khz and Axe is 48khz - does it matter if they dont match ? thanks much

this works on my fm3 - except im getting a mix of the outboard gear with a straight through signal bypassing the fx loop is there a way to get the fully wet fx loop signal without a bypassed signal mixed in ? thanks

Why can't I just plug my guitar into a drive pedal and pedal into input 1 connector? I get appreciate the modulation after cab advice, but using In/Out 3 for a Drive pedal? Also, I have an MXR MC401 Boost/ Line Driver that I would like to try in the mix as a solo boost or maybe even an always on sweetener. Where would you personally place this in the preset chain, before or after the amp/ cab blocks? Great video, thanks!!

Can you not split the stereo in/out pairs to put two different pedals? For example... Put on pedal on output 3 Left -> input 3 Left and another on output 3 right -> input 3 right and operate them independently? If not, this puts a massive damper on my plan to buy the FM9 because of a complex routing situation in which I was planning on using external pedal switchers (one is a matrix switcher) to be able to choose where the pedals and the F9's processing is placed in the chain. Not only that, since I'd be using one of theses switchers for pedals before the FM9, I need to split the guitar pedals before those pedals to hit another I single input on the FM9 to trigger the FM9's noise gate. It doesn't end there, but the rest of the chain is too complicated to explain in text... Whatever the case, my success depends on being able to use each I/O independently of being locked into stereo pairs...

You cannot operate the left and right independently. However, you can build really complex signal chains and they have a lot of pedals modeled. You may find many of your pedals are redundant to what is in the unit. Also, some effects in the unit have reserved DSP (for example: delay, reverb, amps). So, loading a preset up with those blocks won’t eat up additional DSP. Consider as well, putting pedals in a loop will cause some amount of additional latency. There will be an extra AD/DA conversion plus any additional digital pedals add more latency with their own AD/DA conversions.

You need to do a video connecting a whole separate board with the fm9. I have a talk box, wah, some other effects and a whammy I absolutely can not give up so i have to run a separate board. My setup will be a bit insane when my fm9 comes in a few days; finally got my invite. I am going to end up running two boards with this. I tried running one small board and i was hoping the fm9 would solve my problems but my songs have so many different effects after 25 years of writing. I really just wanted the fm9 for more stomp options; i wont give up my Marshall so i i dont need the modeling except for on the road practice with headphones

Hey Tony, great video. I run my AXEFX3 in 4CM and am thinking about getting a few external delays/reverbs to use with it. Would it be possible to simply use the pedals going into the send/return of the amp or are there potential issues there?

I use my ax8 all the time. I also have the fm9. I can tell you my H9 will not be supported much longer. While analog pedals are easier to work on than the digital platforms I find if I have problems they usually occur during the warranty phase (if I’m lucky) but manufacturers must support devices for a minimum number of years after they stop producing them. I’m an analog snob and build pedal boards for other players. That may be why I chose to grab a multi fx board for my gigs. lol.

Yea I don’t know about that. I’ve recently purchased OD pedals and have found the sound quality and experience to be much better than using my AXEFX3 drives.
