3:48 Separate Mix solution. As Rob didn't actually say how to do this you just use (For instance) FX2 with a secondary Reverb on thats only for IEM/Wedge monitor mixes. Just set it up as FX2 Send and Master at Unity, then turn up the FX2 Return on the monitor mixes (Obviously turn down/off FX1 Reverb to the monitor mixes as well otherwise you'll have twice as much going in then). Thanks for the video

I had a question specific to In-Ear Monitors on Same Allen & Heath board with digital snake and ME500 In Ear. Is there a way to route basic vocal reverb effects into the in ear vocal channels as well?
@soundadvicewithrob3083
@soundadvicewithrob3083 Жыл бұрын
Thx for a great question. The AH system creates a seperate audio signal when you use FX (like reverb). That signal is added into any output using the FXReturn. In order to have that signal available on the ME500 you need to include it as an available channel on the ME configuration. On the “Monitor” tab on screen you chan choose what channels and outputs are available on the ME units. Simply add the FXReturn for the FX you are using and ME users can then dial in the amount of the FX (reverb in your case) that they want to hear

Shouldn't on Mixes 1, 2 and 9&10 the master fader be up too?

Thanks Rob, I've watched a lot of your tutorial videos. Now I have 2 question. No.1 is after you set the drum to FX2 and I saw the screen that both FX 1 & FX 2 are at unity gain, doesn't it mean the drums also has FX 1 effect ? No. 2 is when setting FX 1 is Reverb and FX 2 is Delay, if I have both turn up on my microphone channel, doesn't it mean that Delay will be added after Reverb ? The reason I ask is because I'd like to set my microphone has both Delay and a little Reverb. Correct me if I am wrong. Looking forward for your advice. Thanks again.

Thx Jason. Q1 - only the channels where you turn up the send go to the approp FX. I used the FX1 send layer to turn up (or send) the vocal mics, so only they go to FX1. I then switched to the FX2 send layer and turned up the drum channels so only they go to FX2. Send layers work the same as monitor mixes... only the channels that you turn up (or send) on that layer go to that FX. Q2 - Each FX engine (delay and reverb for instance) create their own individual audio signal from the channels that you send to that FX. They are entirely independent, and don't happen one after the other. The number of FX as 1 and 2 doesn't infer first and then second. They are each completely self contained. Hope that helps

@@soundadvicewithrob3083 how do you add multiple fx?
@soundadvicewithrob3083
@soundadvicewithrob3083 2 жыл бұрын
To add multiple FX simply send that channel to multiple FX sends. Eg. Mic on ch1…. Open the FX1 send layer and bring up to ch1 fader. To also send it to FX2 choose that send and bring up ch1 fader to send it there also

Thanks for sharing, I would like to know how to inject an external effect (Type 2290 TC.) as an auxiliare through my QU-SB Allen & Heath. Thank you for your help.
@soundadvicewithrob3083
@soundadvicewithrob3083 6 ай бұрын
Since the introduction of digital mixers with built-in FX engines, manufacturers have eliminated the "insert" jack that used to be available on every input channel. Using an external FX can be done but will need to eat up extra inputs and outputs to accomplish it. First assign the channel(s) to a mix output - you will need to dedicate that mix output for the external FX until. Patch the Mix out jacks into the external unit. Patch the external unit output(s) back into unused input channels.

FXSend is accessed by selecting the appropriate FX button the right side of the app. FX returns are available by selecting the FX button on the left side of the app.

Hi Thanks for sharing! I have 2 questions about FX: 1. Are these FX one time control only for all? I have a separate channel mix (live streaming) and thinking if I can Independently control FX that affects that channel exclusively. I noticed that the faders for these FX are sensitive meaning the effects are already a lot even fader is low just at 30-40db, I can hear my live stream mix flooded by FX, but not the house L/R maybe because we’re in a big auditorium that’s why don’t hear FX obviously/ quickly during live house mix. 2. Can I assign reverb to affect only specific band or at least a low cut filter, we are using electronic drums, whose presets sounds fine already, but I just want to add extra reverb on snare hits which is somewhere 3K khz. Thanks 🙏
@soundadvicewithrob3083
@soundadvicewithrob3083 3 жыл бұрын
1. You can certainly assign separate FX to individual outputs. As a quick example, to Use FX1 for FOH and FX2 live stream Mix, choose each FX mix layer and bring up channel send levels as you wish for that FX. In LR use the FX1 return to bring in aa much FX1 as needed. Repeat for FX2… choose FX2 layer and bring each channel send as you wish for FX2. Then in Mix bus, use the FX2 return to bring as much FX2 as needed. 2. Sorry, the AH FX do not have multiband FX to apply to a specific freq. your best bet is to separate the snare to its own inout channel and apply FX there

Would this also apply to mixing down a bunch of tracks returning from a daw OTB? Wouldnt you want to adjust a bunch of Sends for effect 1 all at once in this case. Or can you see all Returns at once somehow?
@soundadvicewithrob3083

Are you looking to add FX to the tracks returning from the daw? You can that no problem. Not sure I understand your second question (?)
@bellflowerlandscaping1202
@bellflowerlandscaping1202 Жыл бұрын
@@soundadvicewithrob3083 I guess you would adjust all the tracks sends, not their returns as you suggest, because you are not really worried about how the sends will affect other mixes if your only mixing down through the Qu-16 board OTB. This way you can see them all at once. Also if you are mixing OTB from your daw where do you take your Print track from the Mains 23-24 or your USB return I am using 17-18.

Hi Valerie. Thx for the question. First be sure that you are sending channel signal to both FX1 and FX2 on both send layers. Second, go to the output where you want both FX to show up, and make sure you bring up FX1 return and FX2 return faders.
