@jimhejl68963 жыл бұрын
You can also just right click on the middle of the route (where you want an ‘anchor point’) and choose “Add Destination” from the right click sub-menu. It will put add it to the route, in the correctly sorted order. Not a big thing. A tiny bit easier if you create a lot of routes.

Thank you forbthe helpful video. My gripe with the added stops is though that you physically have to pull over and tap your screen to let Google know you have arrived at point A and that you want to move on. Otherwise it keeps wanting to send you back to point A. Any solutions to just keep riding without stopping? Thanks man. Liked and subscribed.
@Pedro-td6om2 жыл бұрын
When I make a tour, I may add one or more stops so I can 'force' a certain route. I have no intention to stop at these stops. Whenever I arrive or pass at a stop, Google Maps will require my physical input before continuing, even when I continue riding (both on the already suggested route or a different one). It goes even so far that, because it's no longer navigating, the screen will timeout and I have to unlock it. This will involve stopping along the side of the road, taking of my gloves, trying to unlock with a possibly wet finger (face recognition doesn't work with a helmet on), etc. Why does it not recognize I'm still riding and continue with navigation? I looked up how to turn it off and supposedly there is no way to do that.

same issue? Did you happen to resolve it?
@nancymartin67012 жыл бұрын
@@OlderShadowRider unfortunately no… we need a 10 year old to write an app that you can start on the computer, drag the route, and then send to your phone. Ha!
@adrianbest34852 жыл бұрын
I believe the solution to that is to right click on your desired route and "add destination". Result being Start -- a, b, c, d... Finish. Those a, b, c points should reserve the route and keep google from undoing your work. I could see just by testing the link with my phone from within my house, that google immediately trashed my plan if I didn't add destinations between my desired start and end. Adding several is holding the route when I open the link. But I have not tried it on the road yet. My question assuming it holds the route when riding, is what happens at each point. Will it jump to the next or require input/response? Tip - zoom in when/after adding destinations to hold a route to ensure your pin is on the road you want and not on a parallel road...

For some reason, the routes I create work great with the spreadsheet links I create, but only from a PC. When I open the same spreadsheet on my phone and click the link, it gives me a default direct route. It's driving me crazy why it only works from a PC but not my iphone

Add stops like he did on the 2nd route in the video
@Mudslidex13 жыл бұрын
@@efyscotland Thanks. I did try that as well (sorry didn't mention it) and same result. So weird because it routers properly when viewing it on a computer via any browser, but open it from a phone and it makes it's own shortest route. Thanks anyway

If I design a route with multiple stops (showing as A, B, C, etc) when I hit start it only gives directions section by section. Is there a way I can set it up to get directions from start to finish please?
@irakli96044 жыл бұрын
But the problem is once you reach to STOP points, Google Map doesn't proceed automatically to the next stop point unless you hit Continue on the screen which is very annoying.
@bow13403 жыл бұрын
Yes, this is hugely annoying and google seems to change how this is handled from time to time. I would swear that 6 month ago or so it would do the auto continue, but now it won’t. Anybody find a workaround for this? Would love to keep my phone in tour pack and just listen to turn by turn directions as a way to deal with iPhone overheating in direct sunlight. Can’t do it now though because of stupid need to hit continue button.

Great idea but unfortunately a lot of people watching this won't figure this out when they have no cell service. The route needs to be on the phone and offline maps loaded before you leave. Probably best to just export a file and send it. Lot of offline apps use kml or gpx.

Good video. Learned a few things in there myself. Am a Garmin / Basecamp user myself in the main but this definitely was useful and am pretty sure would be useful to me even when planning routes as a back up to my Garmin. Good effort thanks

Thanks so much. I tried using maps before to do this and got frustrated with the app.

Can you push that info or link to a Garmin?

I like it but sometimes when I try to share stuff from Google it makes the other person have to have a Google account so I guess I got to look into that figure out maybe I'm doing something wrong

I like your approach. My question is now how can I call up those legs on my iPhone and navigate them vis CarPlay on the new Honda Gold Wing.

Ya but but but your gonna eliminate all the chaos and arguments. Your gonna miss 30 bikes making a U-turn in the middle of the road and 5 falling over...….Great video man, I knew there was a way, I just never really tried to find it. So, thank you for showing me how to do it!!!

BNB, This was a fantastic video. Have you ever considered utilizing Google My Maps and including times and route links in the notes so you can take advantage of the benefits of Google My Maps? I believe you have demonstrated a great method of using Google Maps and Google Sheets. I feel the features of Google My Maps would further improve your fantastic approach if you do longer rides where you include all types of stops in the Google My Maps map.

Export kml from google maps and convert it to gpx. kml2gpx.com Load the tracks if you want to follow the planned route in boom. On the boom system it's called trails when you load it.

Saved routes only coming up as fastest between start and finish. Not as was saved on my desktop. How did you work around this to have the routes properly show up on your phone?
@GregHuston3 жыл бұрын
Way too much like work! Talk about sucking the fun right out of riding. I guess I do routes as a suggestion, find the squiggly lines on the map, talk to people along the way and get suggestions. Seriously I've done this all over the world, no reservations with just a vague route preplanned and a destination I may or may not get to.

I don’t group ride. Motorcycle’s are not weekends only thing for me. I get a kick out of let’s go ride out to the country side. Well my driveway is a mile long. I normally ride a triumph scrambler or a Xl350r.

I have a major problem with this app. I plot a course from A-B with perhaps 20 waypoints in 25 miles and 75% of the way through the course the app starts showing the blue ‘true’ line in two directions at every junction. The remaining 25% of one route was actually displayed as a loop when I tried to check out what was wrong! Please help me with this problem as its completely ruining my confidence in what should be a fantastic tool. Voice commands do not work either - I did get 5 seconds of voice guidance just once, but the app gives way to streamed radio, even when the radio app is disabled it just reboots and I get ....... radio. HELP HELP HELP!!!! Thanks and have a nice day everyone 🙂

I think if you don't clear one of the waypoints along the way, it thinks you've passed it and keeps trying to route you back to it. You need to clear that waypoint.
