One the most underrated pedals in the history of synth is the JHS Lucky Cat. Especially on drum machines. I don’t recall a single demo utilizing one. It absolutely slaps. Cleanest, most articulate repeats I have heard. Thank you for reading my comment.

I have bern waiting for a jhs video like this for some time. The presenter opened my imagination with some cool colours and evocative textures in the performances, but I would also like to have heard some old school blues rock shredding, or even a melodic monophonic line too. FWIW, I was using a RAT pedal, a flanger pedal and a Space Echo on an Oberheim in the mid 1980s and that is still an important aspect of what a synth can do.

the coolest thing i’ve found with the rubberneck is you can turn the tiny regen knob really low, then crank the gain/feedback knobs so that it’s always oscillating, then hold the bypass switch real quick whenever it gets so crazy you need to reset it. You can even have it in tails/buffered bypass mode so you get an insane pad going, turn the pedal off, and play over it without it delaying your current signal. So sad to see DOD go under not long after they put out some of the best stuff they’ve ever done.
@Adam-xi1dz4 жыл бұрын

Most pedal for synth videos tend to go for the approach of: lets open the windows and make beautiful sounds. I'd like to see something involving a chain of pedals from distortion and fuzz to chorus to flanger to delay to reverb. Take a droning sound out of a synth and obsoletely destroy it. The one thing you played that caught my attention was the Dweller, but even then I want to hear it along with 3 other pedals for complete noise destruction. Just a suggestion. ;)

Just a tip: use the volume knob to adjust the level of compression/waveform distortion when using pedals! Using fuzz pedals will get you some crazy results, especially when you choke out a gatey fuzz box like the fuzz factory!
@StephanS4 жыл бұрын
It depends so much on the synth and the sound you're using. My to-go pedal is (and will always be) the Strymon Big Sky.. for 303-ish stuff i use a Fender Distortion or Metal Zone. For old analogue stuff (Stringers) i use the classic EHX Small Stone phaser pedals. You should make a video about how to correctly connect guitar pedals with synths as not every pedal can handle the signals coming from a synth... i once fried my Boss VB-2 while connecting to an old toy organ keyboard.

Layering reverb is a great sound... I’ll use my amp’s spring tank with an EQD Ghost Echo in front of it. Before I had to sell my synth gear 😢 I had an Alesis ModFX Bitrman on top of my poly800. For a while I had the ModFX Smashup (Compressor) paired with it. These things weren’t really pedals since the bypass was a button right under the knobs, always fun going to stomp on it and you knock all your settings around. They were more a tabletop effects box. Thanks to multi pin connectors on the sides of the box, you could connect a bunch of them together without needing patch cables, and apparently they did sell a rack unit that could hold 3 of them connected together vertically for studio use (though it looks like it ate up a ton of rack space.)

Picked up a Korg NTS-1 this week. It includes all the FX found in the Minilogue XD and Prologue. So many remarkable things can be done by piling on modulation, delay and reverb, and twiddling the oscillator-shape control. I'm still trying to figure out how to feed things into the external audio input, but when I do, those bland General MIDI modules I have are gonna sound fabulous.

Where’s the bass pedals episode????
@lordundhimself13104 жыл бұрын
LOL. JHS doesn't care about bass. They assured us that their 3 Series pedals were good on bass too. They did a video of the 3 series thru bass and pretty much all of them sucked out the low end except maybe the chorus and the compressor. If you're a bassist, this channel will only scratch your pedal nerd itch. But you'll have to search for bass content elsewhere 🤷🏿♂️

I just bought an RV-6, and I love it. What really sold it for me was the expression pedal function. I especially use it with the shimmer setting, and swell the shimmer in after playing a chord or note. I also use it doubled or even tripled with my RE-201 Space Echo and the digital reverb on my Blackstar tube amp. Everything I own eventually winds up going through the Space Echo, especially synths.

It’s about time JHS ventured into the world of Ring Mod/Noise/S&H/LFO like the Moog MF103-105, & MF107-108. You know with the wooden side panels and the extreme analog circuitry.
