I show you how use Hydrogen Peroxide on your tomato plants and in your vegetable garden. I take you through 8 days of spraying, give you the mix ratios and show you the results. Always test spray before spraying all your vegetable plants. Use 6-8 tablespoons per gallon of water when you have a small outbreak. Use 10-12 tablespoons per gallon of water for larger outbreaks. Always start with the lower dosage in each category and work your way up. This ratio is for tomato plants.

You have a lot of great videos, Gary, but this might be your best to date. Excellent experiment. Many of my tomatoes are too far gone at this point given I'm a lot further south, but I'm going to give it a shot since I'm not worried about some peroxide damage. They're already pretty in decline, and I'm moving in 8 weeks, anyway. Keep up the good work.

I enjoyed this one. A bit of work and editing but I really wanted to show how 1) test spray 2) how to work up sprays 3) what to look for and of course show results. I had to try something with the rain and hit the determinates that where dying anyway with the solution first. No extra leaf damage so I proceeded to make the video.

This video is amazing, thank you so much for your systematic approach and diligence over several days. I have been trying baking soda together with removal of infected leaves and I have no idea if the spray is doing anything. I'm encouraged to see the "holes" because that certainly looks like something that works. I think I'll use your method for the rest of the summer, and I'll let you know how it works.

Gary. thanks for this experiment. I had blight on some Patio variety Tomato plants. I mixed 12 tbs to a gallon of water and sprayed them. It killed the blight and it did leave holes in the leaves where the blight spots were. But the holes are minimal. I know the holes were where the blight was, because I marked some of them. This works great. Mr. Tom

I live in the Deep South of Alabama. We have extreme heat and humidity all the time during the growing season. Tomato blight is a serious problem here. All tomato plants in and around my area have died and are all dried up. For 99.9 % of gardeners, the season is over, only a handful of us grow through the summer and fall.I planted mine late this year, around June 4th, well way late I must admit. I did not have a blight problem till this past week and then it was only on my Patio variety of tomatoes. My Celebrity, Cherokee Purple and Goliath are just beautiful. I usually use Daconil, but its a preventative not a true fungicide. I remembered your tests and said well, if I don't do it they die, so if it kills them, I have nothing to lose. I mixed it up, and sprayed them in the late afternoon after the sun had moved into the treeline. That was Thursday, on Friday morning I checked them and sure enough the blighted areas that had been yellow were turning brown. The areas with the black spots I had marked had the holes in the leaves like yours did. All I could say was WOW!. It killed the blight and the remainder of the leaves look fine. Today Saturday, they are looking great and the new top growth is looking an vibrant green. This will definitely change how I plant for the fall now. Already have more tomato starts popping up in pots to go into my fall garden. Thanks again Gary. God Bless You. Mr. Tom

Appreciate all your testing. Very helpful. I planted about 33 tomato plants, mostly all kinds of heirlooms in a row, only about18 inches apart, some even less. I'm hoping the H202 will take care of any fungal problems. If disease is taken care of, is that kind of close spacing ok? Do you still use baking soda spray, or just use H202?

Excellent information and great video. I have been using Hydrogen Peroxide for decades in my garden. When I was a child I watched a gardening show on PBS with Jerry Baker. He showed an episode using hydrogen peroxide and other 'home remedies'. I've been using his 'toxins' ever since. I think he still has a website with all the information and some of his videos can be found on KZbin.

I am new to gardening but I watched your video and was curious as I keep food grade peroxide on hand. I read online that you can soak your seeds for 30 min and it breaks through the shell and at the same time kills any fungus or nasties on the seed itself so your chance of germination will be better. I got all but 1 come up and I have never sprouted a single seed in my life. They are robust! I also got some plants from the nursery who were really rough. I sprayed them and treated the soil. The soil started bubbling and sizzling! I left some in, still in the nursery pots. next day soil looked new. the rest I just took out, rinsed the roots off and sprayed the roots directly, let sit for about a min and rinsed and planted. They look fantastic! They LOVE it. No shock. nothing. they are growing and strong. both the ones I rinsed and transplanted right away and the ones I waited. I used 8 Tablespoons per gallon.

I saw a video some time back where all the leaves on the tomatoes growing in a greenhouse were very damaged from fungus. The plants were absolutely huge. The owner took off almost all the leaves of each plant. He showed pictures of the skeletons that were left. It did not affect the plants growth or production at all. So I would at least try that, because most of the time new leaves will come out down the stem as well as the top. At least there is no spreading of the disease.

Great video! I'm gonna use this method for some new succulents I received from a friend. All of them have PM . I'd like to use a systemic after I use the peroxide. Does the Serenade leave an unattractive residue on the plant if sprayed on it ? I'll likely use it as a drench . But I was curious about how it makes the plant look when sprayed . Greatest gardening channel on the internet! Thank you as always Gary! I live in Americas hometown Plymouth Maskachussetts and every freaking year 75% of my yard vegetation gets humungus fungus 🤣. I've been proactive as hell this year. Our 7th year here. I've got .. 75 acres and roughly 6,000 to 7000 SQ ft of gardens. Most of that being non edible. Though every year I add another veggie garden . Whether it's my pumpkins, tomatoes, squash or my butterfly bushes something gets em every damn august! Even with my proactive lawn and garden preventive spraying. I've got massive zebra grass around my pool that gets rusted appearance, butterfly bushes get a silver brown dried up crusty creation on their leaves, and the powdery mildew kicks my pumpkins ass every year! Though I am having better success with my massive pumpkin patch this year. But I am in the patch 4 to 5 times a week spraying , pruning out at first sign of mildew! My 12 x12 tomatoe garden got wasted by blite . I pruned everything and am still getting fruit thankfully! I am going to try the proactive H203 spray next year and I'm going out to spray sodium bicarb and asa right now! My lawn was annihilated 😭. My wife wants to sell and move south to half ass homestead. I reminded her how much work it is managing a small farm that only produces 20% of our food. Our strawberry patch did amazing though this year, I am looking for the plants that produce all season as opposed to 2 weeks in June! We got 30 lbs in 2 weeks this year! Tough to eat that many berries 🤣 we made about 12 gallons of wine and 10 jars of jam. We have 2 daughters 5 and 3 and they're always in the gardens with me. They're forced to listen to Gary talk while we're working on the gardens ! Thanks again for all your hard work with the videos .

I'm so happy I found your site. There are lots of great ones out there for sure and way too many "Martha Stewart" types if you know what I mean. A bit of background on me. I have a degree in Forestry and have been working in the landscape,tree,shrub, ornamental field my whole life. I've been working at garden center up here in CT 6b on and off for 33 years. I started up there again full time 2 years ago. Boy things have changed in this field! I remember selling only 2 types of hydrangea. Now we carry 30 varieties. 200 varieties of roses. Anyway. My strength is tomatoes and veggies so I run that dept. I've been trying to expand my knowledge but that's not easy to do even though I work at a place where our primary goal is to educate our customers. So what to do? I go on KZbin every night and look for the answers I couldn't give my customers. For example I 20 varieties of Rosemary. Which one is the best? Which Lavender. I have 20 varieties as well. Today a head farmer for a non profit came to me with pictures of early blight and leaf spot. Thanks to you I had a handle on how she can treat it. We don't always have the time....we can't know or do it all. It takes a village to raise a garden. It's what June15? I still haven't gotten all my tomatoes in. Here in CT it doesn't pay to plant before June 1. Too wet too cold,at night. Thanks for your work. You're an asset to us farmers.

@@THERUSTEDGARDEN I don't get any diseases and zero blossom end rot. Never. My customers do. I tell them how to plant and how to water and prune. Because I never have problems I'm out of touch with how to treat them. But now I'm planting several heirlooms and I know I will have trouble. Watering is the number one issue for us. I water 2 times a year! But my raised bed 3 feet deep and holds the water and the heat. The pots will be a problem. This is where the H2O2 will come in.

Did you make another attempt at treating pepper plants? I have used it on pepper plants with good and bad results. When I properly measure and dilute it, it seemed to be fine. However, I did notice some burn on young plants if left on the surf, so I may have to dilute it further to use as you are. Seemed fine at a 30:1 ratio applied to the soil or in bottom watering.

Dr. Gary. The Serenade is probably used for squash powdery mildew, am I correct? I'm still not sure how it is spelled, but nursery outlets most likely will have it in stock, I again am assuming. Last year I had a good bit of PM and remedies were only temporary. I sprayed milk, soda and something else but that slips my mind at this time. I will try to find serenade for PM this year. Bob

Will spray w/H2O2 tomorrow (Fri), then, start again when rain stops, but not sure if I should go to Serenade, or keep going with H2O2. What do you think? It's so hot here, that most everything is in the shade, or partial shade; no other way to keep them alive & healthy. Any additional tips you might have are surely welcomed. Much thanks!

So I would work your way up with the H202 ratios too like I did. Just good practice. I might clean them up with H202 and then go to serenade. After 7 days see how they look. Maybe H202 if needed and wait a few days and serenade again. Just create a routine. I see h202 as kill off the fungi and the other options working to prevent them from establishing on the leaves. Let me know what works. I am still deciding how to incorporate H202 into my whole routine. Right now it just daily rain.

This might sound silly but the fact it CURED the already infected leaves(if the holes are indeed that), I find amazing. My past experience is the already diseased leaves are just lost causes and you cut your losses(quite literally).
@THERUSTEDGARDEN
@THERUSTEDGARDEN 5 жыл бұрын
So it is still a hypothesis but I am looking at the video where it had leaf spot and matching it to the holes. It looks right. My guess is the h202 will also react with fungi that hasn't established (now yellow leaf rings) but might be on the leaf as spores or some other stage. And...I have never had holes like that in leaves. I assume if the h202 was that strong and doing it on it's own.... Id see that damage on many many more leaves. But if I ever get sun again, ill investigate more.

Getting it bad this year and it's usually not a huge problem. I usually just prune the leaves off & it seems to control it. I think the rain is causing it.
