Really helpful information! 2 quick questions: 1. What's your take of turning on 'career interests'? It says won't show it to current companies, colleagues, yet not sure about the potential 'risks'; 2. Activate premium member: does this give you better chance being viewed/connected by recruiter, or maybe they prefer not to view your profile, as they cannot do it anonymously anymore? Thanks a lot!
@myemmotion5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! :) In regards to your questions: 1. Activating this feature will increase your visibility in searches, but it doesn't mean getting contacted for relevant and attractive to you positions. The risks are there also, since you would appear as "open to opportunities" to recruiters who are not at your organization. But if anyone at your company hasn't updated their LinkedIn to a current role, they would also see you. I would recommend this feature for less experienced professionals, who just look into switching jobs but don't have particular interests in a certain role or company. 2. If you activate "Premium" it isn't going to influence the anonymous views, they will still be shown as anonymous. But you'd be able to view the whole list of your profile viewers (if they are visible) instead of only the last 5 which the free profile shows. If you want to get in touch with recruiters yourself then the premium option would be worth it, since you would be able to send "inMails" to anyone.
@daviddeparis38525 жыл бұрын
I used open to opportunities and got a lot of junk offers
@LL-hj8yh5 жыл бұрын
@@myemmotion Thank you for the response! 1. I was earlier under the assumption that the 'career interest' could actually help potential recruiters identify you (as it allows you to select specific roles you're interested in), yet what you said do make sense to me. I guess it is indeed possible that someone from the company with a new recruiter account could look you up and see what your 'career interests' are and it is the risk that comes with it unfortunately. 2. It seems like the 'Premium' allows you to view more visiting history/reach out to more people, but not going to help me stand out in recruiter's searching results? Maybe something like my profile would appear in the 2nd page of searching results without premium, but maybe would show in the first page if with premium.
@LL-hj8yh5 жыл бұрын
@@daviddeparis3852 Got it, thanks for sharing your experience! Indeed your account would have more junk offers once you switch to open, but does it bring you more legit opportunities, meaning do you feel like switching to open is worth it? You previous comment sounds like your answer may incline to not worth it, just curious.
@myemmotion5 жыл бұрын
@L L If you check the description made by LinkedIn of “Career Interests”, it’s exactly the same as “open to opportunties”. www.linkedin.com/help/recruiter/answer/67406/viewing-candidates-who-are-open-to-new-opportunities-in-recruiter?lang=en And regarding a Premium account, you can try it for free during one month. And you should. So you could check all the features for yourself. It definitely increases your visibility but it wouldn’t get you a job, unless you actively look for it at the same time. Hope it helps :)

Thank you very much for your feedback! @myemmotion4 жыл бұрын
Hi there! You are welcome, glad it was helpful! Yes, I've had this issue also. Your LinkedIn language is created according to your OS language, if you operated in Italian, it creates the language accordingly. They explain how to change it, first delete all the secondary language profiles, leave only the one you'd like to switch to. Then delete your primary profile and LinkedIn will automatically make your secondary language profile as primary. Here how they explain it on their page too: "Temporarily save all information from your secondary language profiles to a different source. Delete all your secondary language profiles. Create a new secondary language profile in your primary language. For example, if your primary language is in English, create a new secondary profile in English."
@PS-hy5pi4 жыл бұрын
@@myemmotion wow thanks!!! You re grat! I cancelles my profile. I was wondering if there is a way to create a new profile as english as primary..
@myemmotion4 жыл бұрын
@@PS-hy5pi Don't cancel it! First open your profile and visualize it, on the top right you see the language, press "Add profile in another language" and add it in English, just like you wanted (Apart from the Italian that you have). Once you have this 2nd profile in English, you should delete your profile in Italian. And your English profile will automatically become your Primary profile.

I have just replied to this, but not sure why it doesn't appear here. What I said is that your should definitely go for something you love doing, especially if you are currently doing a course on it as well. As an entry position there would not be much difference in terms of requirement, you can always "tailor" your profile and resume to the positions you might find. Check out this resume video also to get more ideas on how to update your resume and how to tailor it better: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXOogH1-itN5d8k

Tact has never been one of my strong points. I'm Italian, and Italians are very big on guilt. But, to get to the issue on hand, I'm preparing myself for my new at home business, which I call The Caterpillar Boutique. It's my baby, however, I know that I have much to learn. I would be lost if I didn't have people like you to mentor me in the art of entrepreneurship. I must learn advertisement, marketing, email, and so much more. All the books and other speakers highly recommend tools and skills such as social media. Am I a mess? Yes. Don't worry, though, I haven't reached the point of hysteria yet. As always, Chris Bitonti

Hi Chris. What is your business going to be about? I think you are taking all the right steps, learning as much as possible before the launch. However the biggest part of learning comes once you are out there with your product, it is a constant process and I am wishing you best of luck. Keep me updated on how things go.

@@myemmotion My parents once told me that misery loves company, so here I go. I've traveled all over the world, I'm addicted to life, and the number one question that I am often asked is, "What ozone do I come from?" ( my parents are now deceased, however I refuse to let them go. My father was the ex-Corporate Vice President and General Manager of I.B.M. World Wide. He is in Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in the Country and Who's Who in East. I dedicate my work to Mom and Dad. I have had a series of very critical and life threatening diseases. The last operation was due to my spleen rupturing. It is critical for me to work from home. I hope to sell my crafts, art, writings, etc. I hope to invest in Real Estate and other avenues of generating income to support myself. Everything I do is by hand. That is what will distinguish me from others. My main source of advertisement will be word of mouth. The last book that I published, was At Ease, As You Were". (I am a veteran of the United States Air Force) I have several other books in the making which include" Don't Worry, We're Having Something Edible For Dinner", You Know You Are In Trouble When the Police Have An Unlisted Number, Pieces of Mind, You Ate My Shoes, The Diaper Brigade, etc. I will self publish. I also plan to create blogs I plan to publish on my website. For now, I am focusing on my physical and mental state of mind. So much to do with so little time. I hold a B.S. in Information Systems, several awards for outstanding ach ievments, etc. My work is all true while protecting the innocent. Most of my family was wiped out in 911, I was in Columbine, and I was there for Woodstock. As always, Chris Bitonti

I agree with everyone who said that this video is really helpful, it shows HOW TO DO it rather than giving too much theory and abstract information. Also it's true that linkedin is staged in many ways but it should stay like that because people can't turn it into instagram or a blog, this is a professional network only
