What line size and type do you recommend to use from your bobber to the hook?

Thx for more Great tips Luke! The grass flats I fish in St. Petersburg are loaded with pins and at times it seems they are the preferred bait. I just received my Slam shady baits today and cannot Wait to try them out!!! Thanks again!! Live Salt Strong 💪

I hope you enjoy the paddletails... we actually caught 3 bigger trout than the one in the video while moving up to the spot by throwing the slam shady paddletails rigged on weighted hooks:)

Try putting the hook in the mouth and out an eye socket. It hides a lot of the hook, the hook won't turn and double up in the bait, the bait stays alive a long time and it has always worked for me. I've done it with finger mullet, pinfish, grunts and greenbacks. Just don't poke the eye out, come out right next to it. Getting the hook around bone keeps it on pretty well.

What brand/size hook were you using for that size pinfish?!
@CoastalBendFishNinja2 жыл бұрын
The size of the hook should match the size of the bait. I would say 3/0 to 5/0 for most Pinfish you would use for bait.

Can you tell me why you use an octopus hook and why you would or wouldn’t use a circle hook? Tight lines 🍻🎣

The old timers taught me to trim off the dorsal and pectoral fins so the pinfish is swallowed easier
@DonnyBerger3 жыл бұрын
Never done that and ive got at least 8 trout over 20inches this year already! The biggest was 26 last Friday , tied my pb!! Fin or no fin they will eat a pinfish the size of your hand! I would say the fin would cause more vibration for the predator fish to sense. Just imo haha

@@DonnyBerger So big trout eat easier...Duh! What about the average trout? Looking to argue just to argue?
@browngaddyoutdoors3 жыл бұрын
@@llshamelessll I think It shouldn’t really matter trout swallow them all the time normally.

Yes, they are release only for the central gulf coast of FL due to a significant red tide we had a few years back.

Hook your fish through the mouth and out an eye. It won't suffocate.

Bullshit, not always!! Last friday I had one on a cork and one on a carolina ring on the bottom, in big bend area, both with pinfish. On the flats off an oyster bar. Got 1 trout 24 and 1 26 inches :) both on the bottom, nothing hit the cork that day! ALWAYS TRY BOTH!! Got one in same spot a month ago 25in same way, on the bottom HOOKED IN THE TAIL!! SOTHEY ARE TRYING TO SWIM UP, AND THE FISH SEE THEM AND FEEL THE VIBRATION!
