Hi John! It might help if you use External Audio Interface, but if for example you not use any external Audio devices and just turning the MIDI keyboard through USB adapter and it's lags just after when I trying to play on MIDI 🎹, what it can be, have you any thoughts? Thank You!

Hello! I stumbled onto this video looking at a different Logic Pro and midi problem. I'm getting constant alerts while in Logic that pop up in the upper right corner telling me "changed number of midi inputs/outputs," as if I'm plugging and unplugging devices. I've tried swapping cables and that's not it. All my devices work fine in Ableton Live and I get no messages like this. I tried what you recommend in this video even though I'm not having the same problem and it didn't help. One of my midi devices that has always worked in Logic is being funky (Launchpad Pro) with it sort of working but sometimes not. Even without that device on I'm getting the changed midi inputs/outputs message constantly. My midi keyboard (Novation impulse) never seems to drop out and always works. I downloaded midi monitor and the midi input/output changes that Logic reports do not show up on that. It's driving me crazy. Anyone have any ideas?

Edward Varga yeah that’s strange. Never ran into this problem. Try installing the drivers for the MIDI keys again. Also, have you upgraded to Catalina? If so, everything run 64 bit make sure everything is updated to match 64 bit. Catalina in my opinion has been the most stable when it comes to logic. Mojave would always make my logic crash. Could be different for others. If this keeps going, we’ll have to continue looking for the solution! Hope this helps!

my midi is working and im able to play, but recording however is not working. logic is saying no in no out which means its not picking up anything when i try to record. any ideas on how to fix? ive checked all my recording settings but cant seem to figure it out. any help is appreciated !

Try checking cables???? I’m not 100% sure, I haven’t had any issues with my midi ins or outs. If I come across something I will let you know!

im having the reverse problem, it only lets me create external midi tracks and every time i try to reconnect my audio interface in preferences it says selected driver not found

Make sure you have the drivers up to date for your audio interface as well as the logic updates, and if the problem persist, try giving Logic a reinstall. I hope this helps!

Excellent, John. I want to play Logic SoCal drum samples with an original DT Express 1 by Yamaha. Using a double DIN to USB is non intuitive, & the Mac tries to trigger the drum module but l want the opposite. Any tips please? Thanks, John.

Still not working for some reason. Im on Sonoma 14.1.1 and my MPK249 still isn’t powering fully. The main screen comes on but no lights from the pad. If I power up from outlet the whole board lights up including the pads, but for some reason it seems more of a power issue or something.. HELP NEEDED ASAP!!!!!!! After many web searches I tried this (after doing lots of other things including using a MIDI cable together with the USB one. Also reboots, initialising devices etc}. My problem was weird - AudioMIDI Setup passed the test. Logic was only partially recieving MIDI ie It would accept step input notes from the controller keyboard (and played back) as well as controller data but It wouldn't make any realtime sound or record it. Eventually I tried a new Logic Project....Success! I guess the old Project had gotten corrupted - the computer had a Kernel Panic. So the lesson is after major crashes etc start fresh and keep it simple. I had ignored the elephant in the room.

Hi Ben, Try unplugging the USB cable and plug it back in. This could just be a little glitch. If not, try restarting your computer. This usually helps fix these glitches. I hope this helps!

Hey what’s going on man? Brother it all depends on which one you feel more comfortable using! I have friends who make beats on FL, Logic, Ableton. On the other hand, I know of people who use those same DAWs to create full score for movies. It’s about what you feel comfortable using and your workflow. Technology will always have issues so you can’t really focus on the bad stuff because troubleshooting your systems needs to be a part of your job description. Hope this helps man!

FraciscoFranco I’m not a personal user of FL Studios, so I can’t tell you with 100% certainty. But, I have never encountered a person who has trouble with the MIDI in FL. You’ll just have to take the leap and use the program to find out what are the common problems with that specific DAW. No DAW is perfect, just keep that in mind when you explore and learn new software.

Hi there, thanks for the tip. I also see this happening in MainStage. So, it looks that it is a bug in the operating system. I'm still running on Mojave and getting that glitch once in a while. And like you've told, sometimes that MIDI studio window takes like forever to load the drivers... when it doesn't fail to do it. Sometimes you have to restart the computer and wish for the best... very annoying !! I wonder why Apple doesn't fix it.

Hey! I would recommend just going up to Catalina, and backing up your Mojave just in case. Almost everything has already shifted to 64-bit and I haven’t had any issues with any of the software I use. In fact, I think Catalina is more stable than Mojave, in my opinion. I don’t have these coreMIDI issues or latency as much, if at all. I’ve also upgraded gear so that plays a huge role. Try it out, maybe it works! REMEMBER TO BACK UP WITH TIME MACHINE! Haha!

@@Johnmunstudios Yeah, I'll try it out by installing Catalina from scratch on a new SSD, now that most third party apps and plugins that I use seems to be compatible with Catalina. This way if something goes wrong I still have all my work on the Mojave SSD ready to run :) Keep it up !!
