Hi Charles. Millard Randolph Curry here from Central Arkansas. I ran across your Logic Pro 10.5.1 Midi Tutorial, and was very impressed by your calm, laid back & relaxed demenor. You present the information very well. I started using the early Logic Express when it was first available. In fact, I still use that old program & love it. However, I am in the process of mixing, mastering, and releasing 10 to 12 complete recording projects of numerous genres over the course of the next 5+ years. I started playing guitar when I was 7 years old when Dad taught me C, F & G. I added keyboards and several other instruments way back in 1972 through 1976. I was so impressed with your tutorial that I gave you a thumbs up, subscribed & clicked the personalized notification bell. I'm looking forward to watching more of your tutorials to improve my music development. So, Keep Up The Good Work Young Man! Take care and I'll touch base on down the line. Thanks Charles, job well done & very informative.

I like this, as I was watching I was like "Why don't I just follow along for practice." Honestly such a good way to learn. I used the same Drum Synth Kit and Steinway Grand but I didn't have that Analog sound so I pick one of the other options and worked with it. I tried copying the beat (I'm don't understand drum beats too well) it worked out. The piano part I came up with my own and the same for the Alchemy sound I chose. It was fun and also really helped me take the pressure off of having to create something spectacular on my first try.

These are great tutorials really do appreciate them so much! As a total novice I have a silly question!! If you have an existing midi track, how do you assign it to a software instrument. Do you just play the midi track and click record on the software instrument track? Do you turn on input monitoring? Would you use the midi keyboard to sample the sounds in say alchemy, and then click record once you have found the one you like? Mostly what I’m experimenting with rn is converting stems to midi and then assigning to new instruments... THANKS AGAIN!! ❤

Hey Charles…here is one for you. I have emphysema so my vocal range is now greatly limited both in range and power. What I’m trying is dropping the pitch of the song ever so slightly coupled with the speed so I can sing in a slightly lowered register, then return the recorded vocal up to concert pitch by returning to the original tempo. I know some DAWs will correct the formant so it doesn’t go chipmunk…but can Logic do the same? Thanks!

Can you do a video on working with midi with an external instrument like a piano in my case a roland rd 2000. My problem is I record midi from the keyboard and then it plays back but I don't have any control over the volume in logic pro x. If I record the midi to an audio track then I can change the volume etc but with midi from external instrument the volume doesn't work. Im also just confused about midi channels. My piano has 16 channels but they behave strangely to me lol.
