How to use Mission Control on your Mac

Mac computers have always had great tools for organization. Mission Control is a way to organize the windows you have open across multiple desktops. In this video I go over how it works, and trust me when I say this will change the entire way you interact with your Mac.

Thank you for the tips. Is there a way to make the windows not move if I have like 3-4 of them on one desktop? I mean that every time I swipe up the few windows I have are in a different place than the last time I swiped up. Even if I switch between 2 all the time, windows are always organized differently, which makes my "eye memory" useless in productivity aspect...

I use a mouse and a trackpad together over two screens and have found Stage Manager difficult. Mission Control has been there lurking in the background but I now see how useful it could be for me. Many thanks for the video.

This is helpful, thank you. I used to be able to do this with Adobe applications, ie Photoshop InDesign. These applications don’t seem to be moved to a set desktop. I’m using OS Monterey & most updated Adobe CC.

I’m trying to find out how to arrange the windows that are in my Mission Control. They seem to be scattered haphazardly all over the screen and I would like to put them in a particular order and keep them there. As well as how to figure out why they keep reordering themselves. Do you have a video that covers that?

Thank you for this tutorial. Do I need to set up more than one desktop to directly access files on my desktop to drop them in my Zoom meeting? I think I need to have at least 2 desktops, one empty without several pages to copy the file and then paste it directly into Zoom chat.

You forgot to mention the keyboard hotkey to open Mission Control without a mouse or trackpad, and keyboard hotkeys to switch to the exact desktop without swiping all of them one by another.

Not sure anyone will see this a year later: my work is switching to Mac. On windows, if I want to switch between open apps, I just use alt+tab. It’s super quick. This seems like a clunkier way to do that. Maybe I’m not entirely understanding the point of multiple desktops? This will be an adjustment for me, but I already use an iPhone so I think the integration will be nice once I learn how to operate the laptop

It's a huge plus to have multiple desktops once you get used to it. I have applications running on every desktop and switching between them is super easy. it really helps with multitasking.

You've probably figured this out, but holding Cmd + Tab & using left or right stole keys lets you cycle through apps on Mac too. If you do want to use these Mission Control spaces, just cycle through them with Ctrl + left/right arrow 🙂

I don’t think there is a way to change the size, I think showing it small is the point so that you can see what windows and applications are open.

I hope its clear but if I have folders and utilities app on my main screen, and I make a new one using mission control and get rid of them, if I go back to the first window will they reappear?
