In the 90’s stuff like this was like folklore. For example I remember hearing that someones’s brother have heard from someone else that Cobain used DS-1 maxed out to get his sound. So I bought one and it didn’t sound like Nirvana at all. Then several months later some other guy explained the correct settings to me. Good times.

My question is , do you think it would sound better if I put it in the chain after the overdrive and just get rid of the spliff pedal? I'm gonna try it when I get home but was wondering what you thought? I seen a video about the zuul and spliff so I've just been using it in the loop since I got it but if I can get more chug and clarity in the chain I'd rather do that.

I havent syarted the video yet, but Euge....PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell people not to use an overdrive over a dead-clean amp. That is the WORST sound ever and it's always the blues and country guys doing that. You can hear the clean sound through the gain the pedal adds and it's an awful sound.

I do this and I have don't know what you're talking about. I'm using Revv pedals for my gain unto a clean Fender style preamp with a lot of headroom and it sounds great.

@@MrJingles021 no offense but you might need your ears checked if you don’t know what I’m talking about. But also, I’m talking about an overdrive, not a distortion-they’re two completely different types of pedals

I’ve done it many times with great results. Sometimes what might sound shitty alone can be just what was needed in the mix. So no, I’m not going to tell that but just use ears. It’s all about personal preferences and it’s impossible to argue with those.

@user-jq4fz6co8b maybe you're using bad overdrives? The Revv G2 is an overdrive and it sounds great. I've used all varieties of overdrives through a Fender style amp and they sound great. Have you seen any videos with Andy Timmons playing? He uses overdrives into a clean amp and it sounds great. Same with Andy Wood, and there's even a video with Paul Gilbert showing his pedalboard through a clean amp....it works fine.
