Your videos are excellent. I have always read and heard about how important are the power tubes in the final sound (there are even like mythological specific tubes models and brands) so I expected that they would really gain saturation with that boost/overdrive/distortion pedals and sound wonderful. Now I am prone to conclude power tubes are really not so important and maybe differences between them is due to differences in their specific own circuits.

@@EugeValovirta230V Sure! Make me get off the can and go upstairs to check. Lol Sorry ‘bout that. My mistake! It is SD-1. I’m still impressed! I can back off on the guitar volume a little now. Big difference. I’m going to hunt for the elusive OD-1. There used to be a vintage pedal store on Queen St here in Toronto. Hopefully, it will still be there. Also, I could contact guys that used to play way back and see if they have any stuff left over. Lol (Maybe not, on second thought)

I used to put EQ in the loop of a 5150. It hit the power amp hard and made it tighter. Also boosted 1kHz and above to get some Dimebag sizzle. Sounded amazing.

When you go directly into the send with out a master volume.your amp will be at full volume and then your pedal volume becomes your master volume This gets your power tubes and at maximum power and you can get some amazing overdriven tones basically the same as turning a master volume all the way up on a Marshall and then using your channel volume to adjust. Take your Marshall tube amp of any sort use a MXR 12 band EQ go directly into the return of your Marshall then dial back the volume and gain so you don't blow a transistor and you can go into some amazing clean crunch tones that you've never heard before. The MXR 12 band is a 18 volt EQ. It adds massive amounts of boost and overdrive and it has a distortion channel in it many people do not know this. The MXR 12 is analog. 👍💯💯💯🔥🎸 Like when you say 2203 800 punch it in the chest it's just like that .

Tell you a really cool paddle to get MXR full boar metal pedal. Plug it into a Marshall with a really good clean section like TSL or any other tube amp that has a good clean channel and you can get really good mid scoop distortion and has a mid scoop button on it or regular metal plus a full equalizer and a noise gate a master volume and tone 👍

hi euge, thanks for that video. it clears up everything a little bit more for me. But could you please explain how an amplifier works too please !? Why has it a preamp and a poweramp and do they work together ?
@EugeValovirta230V3 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear! Great suggestion indeed 👌. A short & very simplified answer is: preamp is where the sound happens / is created (preamp tubes, EQ: bass, mids, treble) and power amp amplifies (power tubes, presence & resonance controls) it by adding it’s own flavour 😎. I actually explain it on this one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fWapp6WEeNtgY5I

So, technically you would need 2 pre-amp pedals before the power-amp (in the EFX loop return) and use one of them for your cleans and one as your OD?

There are aux effects and direct injection effects. Reverbs and modulation effects are line level auxilary effects. Noisegate and drive effects are insert effects. They are in the case of a guitar amp usually put in front of the amplifier.
@EugeValovirta230V3 жыл бұрын
You could use them either way to get different sounds: put a delay in front of the amp to get The Edge - like percussive delay and in the loop it’ll be totally different but you can get it them sound really close either way by dialling the effects level knob. Same with fla, pha & cho. Basically the only effect that sounds like crap in the loop is od. But that can sound good too if it’s the sound you’re looking for 😎. There’s no wrong or right way, just different ways and sometimes the oddest way could be just the right way for a particular sound (in the mix) 👌😊. If you’re using lots of gain and want a really tight gated sound a very common way is to put one gate in front (pre) and one in the loop (post). Or if you just want to get rid of the hiss of the (od) pedals you put a gate after then (pre) but before rev & dly so it won’t cut out the dly/rev tails. Etc. Etc. 😎
@FransvandenBergeMuziekschuur3 жыл бұрын
@@EugeValovirta230V yes. I know. I did the SAE. Trying to help you out with the origin of insert effects and aux effects.
@FransvandenBergeMuziekschuur3 жыл бұрын
The aux effects originally accept and like to see -10dbv. Insert effects and pedals generally are able to take d.i (from intrument to -10dbv up to +4dbu) and instrument level signal.
@FransvandenBergeMuziekschuur3 жыл бұрын
So from an electrical point of view you cannot mix and match everything. Currently there are chips that sense input sensitivity. But that’s certainly not the case with everything. So essentially you are telling fairy tales in some instances, I hope to help you to avoid this mis information.
@EugeValovirta230V3 жыл бұрын
