About Appendage Crusher: the game doesn't reveal what appendages that you need for augment crafting until you defeat an enemy with that appendage (it might not even say unless you get it as a drop), and at least one enemy that you have to fight only spawns in a secret cave in Sylvalum. These are the appendages that you will use your reward tickets on: 1 Emerald Horn, 1 Shed Germivore Scales, 1 Mortifole Pollen, (you also need 1 White Cometite) People really undersell how much information the game hides from the player. New players wouldn't know what to spend those 124 tickets on.
@0okaze4 жыл бұрын
The game actually rewards you with the information by completing the quests which themselves force you to explore and give you access to all the secret areas. But the game doesn't tell you about the Overdrive mechanics enough for it to be useful. Granted, the superbosses are then a challenge, and giving out this mechanic removes all the fun of discovering it, but I think most people finished the main story without ever deeming Overdrive useful. And it's true the game is much more fun when you actually manage to do infinite overdrive. It happened to me once in a skell combat, it was amazing, I thought it was a bug.
@SkilledYetTalentless4 жыл бұрын
I think you mean materials, in place of appendages in this instance. To further elaborate, players definitely won't get Appendage Crusher augments until breaching well into Sylvalum, since only Sylvalum Germivores drop Shed Germivore Scales, and the Emerald Horns come from Xiphias, specifically the pink variety which live exclusively in Behemoth's Shadows (Eastern Sylvalum).
@shyrobot46434 жыл бұрын
@@SkilledYetTalentless The Emerald Horn is the appendage in this instance (and so, must be broken), but the rule follows for all materials you get from enemies, yes. You can get Germivore Scales in Noctilum as well.

@@shyrobot4643 You can get Flowering Germivore Scales from the varieties in Noctilum, but not the Shed kind. It's the variation material for Germivores and you can tell the difference by their abdomens. The Flowering kind have lilac posteriors, whereas the Shed kind have teal.

@duelversebeyond4 жыл бұрын
What’s a reflect build?
@The_OPN4 жыл бұрын
@@duelversebeyond there's a number of arts in the game that can reflect a single damage type, like Raijin and Astrolibrium. There's also a number of augments that will make that art reflect additional damage types. For Dadaan, you need to be able to reflect physical and thermal. Alternatively, you can just get 100% resistance to those two damage types to get the same effect. Ghost Walker won't work because he calls several dozen grunts that each have multi-hit attacks that make decoy arts worthless. These grunts do loads of damage but can't take a whole lot themselves, so you can use any AOE TP art to instagib most of them. Rinse and repeat to get a ton of class XP. Also note that Dadaan destroys your skell in 10 seconds, so you can't rely on it to attack/tank. For me, personally, I used a photon saber build with Astrolibrium. If you kill Dadaan fast enough, he doesn't summon reinforcements, so I used that with a skell to get the Reflect:thermal and Reflect:physical augments, then used Galactic Cataclysm to farm Less than an hour later, I had every class maxed out
@duelversebeyond4 жыл бұрын
TheOPN OK so if I understand this right there’s an augment you can get that makes AstroLibrium (or Raijin) reflect the type of damage dadaan back at the enemies, So it can basically make you invincible. Then you use infinitely the responding ads of that fight to grind for class experience. And then you keep doing it until you max out every class. Correct me if I got anything wrong but that’s what it sounded like from your explanation. Also can you explain to me what damage type those enemies use as well as the augments I would need for this and how to get them?
@The_OPN4 жыл бұрын
@@duelversebeyond Dadaan and his grunts use only physical and thermal attacks. Dadaan himself drops the reflect augments you need, so if you have a skell weapon that can kill him in one hit, that's a good way of getting them. Otherwise, just craft resist thermal and resist physical augments to tank him completely. The class EXP comes from using orange arts to kill his many underlings, which is why I used a photon saber for him. For this, you don't want to use your skell because you want to kill him slowly so he calls his reinforcements.

When i think of overdrive i think of the time i got stuck on the final story boss on that fateful friday night. All Skells dead, Party members equipped horribly and me not knowing how overdrive worked. So i changed up my party. And died. I turned every option available to achieve better results. Nothing helped. But when experimenting with that 15 seconds buff feature, i started noticing that particular equipment and skills did things with it (keep in mind i've used it probably two times since unlocking it) So at saturday 3.A.M, after vaguely figuring out how skill sequences affect it, i slapped on skills that i deemed useless. Quess what happened: Beat that final chapter into submission. The previous video was lacking Yoyyeno, so I'm glad to see The Man in action. Also, my favorite overdrive "build" to just do quests and stuff with is to have 5 "Overdrive: Gain TP" augments and the corresponding skill so that Overdrive doesn't cost anything to use. If you get an armor piece with any "Overdrive Count Up" trait on it, you can spam the overdrive button and give all your party members free TP while building your own count to max. Typically, I'll just stack a bunch of melee attack or something because potential is useless. (I feel like I need to make a disclaimer here that this is a joke because newer players might think potential might actually be useless... It's a super good stat, but you probably don't want to run potential AND melee or ranged attack as you're far better off choosing one of potential, ranged attack, or melee attack to focus on) Final Edit: I learned this strat from Rhuanjl (he made a bunch of X guides on youtube a while ago and on GameFAQs). His video outlining the strat in detail is in his video called "The Melee Build" or something along those lines.

So let me see if I understand this... The use of overdrive is mostly based on which types of arts you're using. Usually you want to do a buff art before using either a melee, ranged, or debuff art since it doubles the counter gain they net you. Increasing counter is a big priority as it helps with basically everything in overdrive including increasing timer, which is done through aura and buff arts. Debuff arts also are major because they increase your TP based on the counter. If you're going to do any attack arts together (melee, ranged or debuff), it should never be a melee to a ranged or a ranged to a melee. And that's essentially the basics of overdrive?

When I originally played X, there was no overdrive guide like this or any guides as comprehensive as your general combat guide so Im able to learn the game so well now without just a bunch of trial and error and that's awesome This kinda turned into a ramble, but basically... thanks Enel, go treat yourself to some choccy milk cause your epic

I know this is incredibly informative but I realized when he was explaing TP recovery that I had zoned out and all I was hearing were WORDS. Like not sentences, just WORDS. God this series is crazy with its mechanics.

Man, I WISH I had known this stuff and the game had explained Overdrive (and the combat overall) better. I went down the Enforcer/Mastermind route when I started playing because it sounded like the play style I would prefer. I ended up feeling exceptionally underpowered pretty early and gave up because I felt so irreparably behind. These Xenoblade X videos make me want to get the game again and try once more knowing what I know now. Anyway, all that to say, thanks Enel!

Ah, 2015. Played 350+ hours. Achieve Infinite Overdrive was such a rewarding gameplay mechanic. What was really amazing about Xenoblade X for me, was that after 50-60+ hours you unlock Skells and Mira never looked more beautiful. Then, the Overdrive mechanic added more to the game and it's really such a great mechanic, so broken in a good way, such fun to use. 💖

I accidentally blundered my way into a decent overdrive build with dual guns/swords and stuck with it for the rest of the game regardless of class changes. Improved it as I got better skills but I didn’t have the patience to experiment too much when what I had was working and deviations from it ended up with my team getting wiped.

Thanks for the video. Late to the party I know. But I couldn't make heads or tails of the Overdrive system at all until I came across your video. Thanks for the in-depth, but easy to understand explanation. You probably saved me hours of headbashing against the wall.

I'll go Full Metal Jaguar on my second playthrough. It, uh... took me a while to figure this all out the first time. But this is my eternal overdrive build: Class: Bastion Warrior Weapons: Longsword, Gatling Gun Skills: Yamato Spirit, Grand Procession, Trauma Tension, Healing Aura Arts: Enhanced Stand, Bullet Twister, Tornado Blade, Cool Off, True Stream Edge, Magnum Edge, Bullet Storm, Ultraslash* I also have the following augments: "Cooldown Reducer X", "Overdrive: Recover HP XII", "Extend Overdrive XV", and "Resist Launch V". Although it takes a while to be able to make those augments, and I was getting eternal overdrives before crafting them, so I guess you need not worry about augments for a while. *Though based on this video (and the thumbnail, lol), it seems I should swap out Ultraslash for Blossom Dance, which I recently unlocked, and get TP up augments along with it? Thoughts?

About the reward tickets. Since Miiverse has been taken offline, online features are going to be much harder to come by. It might be a good idea to list some offline ways to obtain reward tickets if applicable. :3

Overdrive is probably my favorite mechanic in any game. It just feels so, so sick. Taking on enemies like 20 levels higher than you, Wir Fliegen playing in the background while you run around tearing them apart is easily the peak of the game for me. Overdrive being so complex and Xenoblade X explaining so little just make you feel like even more of a genius when you finally figure it out and pull off an infinite Overdrive build. The amount of thought you need to put into your build as well as everything you need to keep in mind about Overdrive's mechanics in-battle make it so, so satisfying. Not to mention the fact that arts like Ghostwalker and Smooth Recovery, along with plenty of others, just have sick animations. Overdrive just makes me feel like a god every time and I love it.
