On a new character the First set of perfect gems (one of each) in horadric cube can be used with a magical amulet to transmute into a resist all amulet with an additional random affix. Good for starting out ladder

Nice unique video Phil! Most focus only on the runewords, but early on I don't think enough people even utilize the gem bonuses enough. P Topazes can give a ton of extra MF. I started with a Barb for the first time in Ladder and the gem bonuses add a ton of damage especially early on in Normal.

I use topaz gems for easy magic find. That is a must in early ladder or just starting just a boost to 50 to 100 mf is good to have just starting out

I'm ssf around level 90 and I'm still using a chest with 4 perfect topaz gems on my sorc. It's only 4% less MF than wealth and a lot cheaper. Also 3 perfect ones in a helm.

I also like the safety amulet for any blocking char like a java zone or a druid or an assassin. 10% extra chance t block equals more than 20 DeX saved, that's more than 40 or 60 to life.

Also, when casting amulets does the level of the crafter matter to the outcome of the crafted item. like can i have a low level toon with cube craft it of does it have to be a higher level toon

Perfect diamonds for resist shields. Yes, Um runes have 22 vs the diamonds 19, but diamonds are fantastic if you're suffering from a lack of resists - and far lower level requirement.

Umm for Javazon you use jewel with 15% and enhanced dmg % to your shield like Stormshield.

You can sell 40 random Pgems for Ist on NA-ladder. 10 P. Amethyst for Ist too. 25 x Ral runes for an ist too.

Nice one Phil! You could do a video on how to use low/mid runes outside runewords. For example, a 3xRal helm is so easy to do and gives your character a whopping 90% fire res, freeing space for other gear, but not a lot of people use this. They also can be used inside "crafting packages" for those looking to upgrade from great to godly tier and traded for high runes they aren't using.

Just an add: Perfect skulls used to be in demand in LoD, but are no longer as valuable. This is due to the QoL changes making gathering gold and gambling much more streamlined. No one rolls rares anymore, except for LLD jewels. Everyone gambles. (LLD people would be wise to take advantage of this, since jewels cannot be gambled, and good rare ones have reasonable odds).

What advice do you have for someone that has done hell mode for all my runs of 2000 ancient tunnel runs and have only found 1 mal rune? my mf is 14% and im playing on players 5. I have done 4000 trav runs and found 1 tal rune. I have done 1000 river of flame runs and found 1 gul... Do I need 0 mf to find runes? I'm a solo player so i don't trade for gear. I have yet to find a griffin helm and is the only helm i have not found, I can't make any high rune words because im not finding runes. Am i doing something wrong?

You don't need 0% mf, but % mf doesn't factor in to rune drops. Player count does. If you can easily do the run on P5, try P7. If that's too difficult and your kill speed drops significantly, go back to P5. Also, generally speaking, the Lower Kurast runs will net you better rune drop odds, as there are 6 (?) super chests that have a greater chance of dropping runes. Another option - run hell Countess. You won't always get the highest runes she can drop, but you'll always get runes that can then be cubed to higher runes.

Big fan but this video was not it. Basically spent 5 minutes telling people to trade them. Here are the uses for anyone wondering: Topaz: cheaper than Ist for MF (I recommend keeping 5-10 handy for your characters then trading the rest you get) Amethyst: crafting caster items (most expensive perfect gem of all of them) Ruby: crafting blood gear for melee chars (2nd most expensive) Skulls: re-roll diadems (if it rolls well you got yourself infinite fg or ber runes) Diamonds: upgrading your unique gear Sapphires/Emeralds: have select uses that aren’t as good as others mentioned, generally crap and just tradebait

best way to get chipped gems i always found was have a low level pally with fire aura run through normal acts, just aura popping all the mobs and looting the gems as they fall. The areas with the big camps of fallen demons etc are great. Your pally don't need to be that high really. Just stick to looting the gems for speed

@@robbzooi nah fair enough, I was gonna level a pally anyways starting with fire aura so I just got him up a few levels, gave him some nice vendor gear to buff that fire aura and just spammed the act 1 packs. The amazing thing was the aura was 1 shotting everything and I only had to focus on checking for/looting chipped gems. The mobs were usually dead before I enter their screen lol It's really viable for anybody reading this who doesnt want to mash buttons and target mobs, super lazy and super effective :)

My merc was so close to colossal voulge insight so I put armor on him with + str and it didn’t matter. It would read over on paper but until he got there levelwise, I think like 78, it didn’t matter. So, are we sure the P ammys works if as a mod plus str makes no difference 🧐🤓🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️

How quick the person with the rune, or you, want the trade...the time of day (things late night seem to either be way more expensive or way less expensive at times) or even where a person is in their leveling.
