And so, i subscribed. Thank you for sharing. I needed some input to take the leap to PrusaSlicer. KZbin instructional videos/sleep have taught me 90% of what i needed to be proficient in 3d printing. I took upon me, to be the 3d guy at the school i work. (Janitor/bike smith.) So i took home a Felix Pro 2 dual head printer and a Felix Tec 4 single head. (Dutch Firm very expensive) Took a deep dive from a Steep learning curve. 6 month later i felt like i had gathered enough knowledge to slowly start teaching the teachers. (Many frustrating hours later) Then i bought the Ender 3 v2 for myself, (budget restrains) and here we are. Nothing can substitute time spent and hands on experience. Once again, Thank you very much. Respect and regards form Denmark.

Great video (but that's what I've learned to expect from you 😁), a tiny remark if you can/want to add a correction textbox. @13:56 you say "then on the lefthand side by dragging that blue/purplish line", I'm sure you meant the righthand side? Again, great video, I really like your style - positive, clear, and concise! I may get myself my first printer soon and leaning towards a Prusa i3 Mk3 S+ with the MMU2S. A guy at the CNC operator course I'm attending said that Cura has a better GUI, but I am new to 3d-printing and have no subjective preference so I thought I'd go for the PrusaSlicer since it should be well adapted for my choice of printer. I'm glad that I seem to have you on my side, you don't even talk about the Prusa printer here and still like PS. (BTW I think you nailed the pause in the intro; "Let's learn something......together" a fraction of a second longer and it would sound like you lost the script😁. But, then again, English isn't my native tongue so what do I know, just something that caught my ear😁) Stay safe, healthy, and happy!

Hi Irv. Love your channel. I to just switched to try out Prusa. I have an Ender 3 V2, that I just upgraded with a Creality Sprite extruder. Was having some issues with first layers etc even though I changed the retraction amount and speed to adjust for the direct drive vs Bowden tube. Still some issues though. I picked the Prusa option for Ender 3V2, but was wondering if I should pick a different model, like an S1 pro or something that has a native Sprite on it. Comments are very welcome!

so weird you said you got stringing with Cura where I had the exact opposite. I tried PrusaSlicer several times over the past two years and every time with the default setting I would get massive stringing where with default Cura setting I would get none. I will try the 2.3 and hopefully it will be better because as much as I love Cura, I want to make Prusaslicer work out for the option Prusa has.

Great video as always! I love Prusaslicer! Regarding speed changes, Prusaslicer does allow the user to set some of the speed settings as a percentage of other speeds. It isn't really an all in one change like you mentioned, but with some tinkering it can be made slightly easier to change print speeds. Thank you for the work you put in to your content! Take care!

I might be considering Prusaslicer. My printer doesnt seem to adjust to the settings I have set in Cura. Which is odd, since its an Ender 3 v2. Settings like print speed, temp, cooling. I set those in Cura, and my printer just ignores them and prints at 100% everything. Makes for some troubling prints, If I don manually set them on the printer itself. I am hoping that Prusa will work better.
@MakeWithTech3 жыл бұрын
This makes no sense. Are you using an sdcard? Make sure you are printing the correct file. Are you reslicing after every change and then re-saving the file?
@TractorsNStuff3 жыл бұрын
@@MakeWithTech Hey! Thanks for getting back to me! Yes, I am using the microSD card. I'll set something in Cura, like print speed to 50%, slice and save it to the SD card. Move it to the printer and start the print. Once it starts, I'll go into the Tune Page, and see that the settings are at 100% and the print head is motoring along. I can turn it down, manually, but then why have the settings in Cura? This is also the case with Cooling and sometime temp. Though, I typically dont adjust the temp in Cura, but manually on the printer anyway, with the preset. If that makes sense?

Hey Irv, thanks for the video! I actually started making the change-over a few days ago because I was getting tired of Cura's stupid way of generating a printing strategy. For example, Cura has issues when you have a large flat object * like a square and then on TOP of that square, a smaller object needs to print on top of the underlying infill. Cura sucks at that and leaves gaps - forcing me to use higher infill, more walls, and other hacks. WELL - I see that Prusa Slicer is smart enough to create a FLOOR underneath all of these objects that need to print directly on top of infill! That completely solves the issue!

Depending on the print I might make minor changes such as number of perimeters. But when closing I always disguard changes.

Really Irv? "some space on your DISK DRIVE" ... this does show our age ;-) But completely agree on PrusaSlicer. I also find the ironing quality better. And also the supports just seem to work better for me - supporting nicely with very limited scars and still easy to remove. What annoys me though is that when printing separate parts in sequence, it prints the brim of ALL parts at the beginning instead of at the start of each separate part. And I do miss some of the granularity in the options which Cura has, but when I need that I can still use Cura of course.

I am trying to use Prusaslicer setup with these instructions on my Mingda D2. When it moves up in the Z it makes a thump. I tested with two other slicers and the printer does not make that noise. Any idea what setting in the Prusaslicer is causing this?
@bubnikv3 жыл бұрын
you may want to limit z speed in your start g code
@scottwarrick3 жыл бұрын
@@bubnikv, it appears it is a combination of Z hop and the maximum Z jerk. I also notice that the maximum accelerations are quite a bit higher than Ender 3 profiles on other slicers and this can make a printer very loud even if the print speed is 60mm/s. This is particularly the case with non-extrusion travels. I tweaked these settings and got the printer to quit making the popping sound when the Z went up and also to be quiet again moving X and Z.

Yes. Watch lots of videos, make lots of small prints first just to get the hang of using a slicer, the printer, and its components. Start with PLA. It is by far the easiest material to print with. Use a bed adhesive such as MagiGoo and master bed leveling even if your 3max has an ABL system.

I tried retraction length at 3mm and it was worse, although there was no stringing (the print fails midway). Anyway, should I be tweaking the retraction speed if so what should it be?
@plampix3 жыл бұрын
@@rostranj2504 It all depends on your printer and your filament. Tuning without proper tools is very difficult, that's why superslicer includes the calibration options.
