Hi Pal, when you buy a 24 hr ticket on Ruter including the airport zone, zone 2 and the City centre zone, does it cover the vy train connecting to the airport as well? I need to travel from the airport, go to my airbnb in Lorenskog, then go to city centre via bus, and take a return train to the airport the next morning. Will this whole journey be covered in the 24-hr ticket?
@SuppeIsCheese3 ай бұрын
@@karankalani4211 If taking VY's train in Oslo or Akershus county you are allowed to use ruter's regional tickets (zone 1 and 2...), but outside these zones you are obligated to use VY's or FLYTOGET's own tickets. I think the airport train has its own tickets and prices. Hope this helps!

Very informative! When I visit a city for the first time, I personally prefer to walk everywhere (if distances are bearable) so that I can see how’s the city, not just the touristy areas. But, of course, if you don’t have much time, it’s great to know the means to move around. I’ll definitely check the trikk and the T-bane next time I’m in Oslo 🤗 Btw, I agree with other people commenting on the quality of the video. You’re putting a lot of effort on it and it shows 👏☺️

Love this! Hi, Pål and thanks for this fantastic overview of public transit in Oslo. I haven't made it to Norway yet, I'm hoping to get there in August or September 2025 and I do plan to get around on transit when I arrive. I live in Canada and I'm always happy to see what life is like in another winter city. Years ago, I saw your video about Norwegian brown cheese and immediately went out and bought some at a specialty shop. Delicious! In all of his books, Karl Ove Knausgård talks about eating brown cheese so I knew it was a Norwegian staple but I thought it sounded ... unappetizing. How wrong I was! When you explained that it was basically cheese made from caramelized milk, I knew I had to try it. Love your insights on Norway, looking forward to my first visit.

I'm visiting Norway right now and I wish I knew this useful information before 😂 but it has been pretty entertaining figuring out how the transport system works here. I love how clean and organized the city is and how kind and friendly people are. The only thing is that you must prepare your pocket because your estimated budget possibly won't be enough to afford every expense in here. Oslo is kind of expensive but it's totally worth it since the place offers a lifetime experience and unforgettable memories.

Great video Pål. Can I ask you a very practical question please. When you buy a ticket on the Ruter app, how do you enter and exit metro stations, buses, and trams. As an example, in London you have to touch in and out on the Tube but only touch in on buses. In Stockholm you only touch in on the metro (not out) but on trams an inspector scans your card/app. I think this is really practical information for tourists. Thanks.
@norwaywithpal Жыл бұрын
Hi Dean, good question! There are no barriers for going in and out of metro stations, and you board buses and trams through any door. No tapping in or out. If you got the ticket on your phone you are good. If you don’t it and there is a control then you are in trouble ;)

Bravo Pål. This was so well done and so much information packed into a beautify enjoying video. You nailed it with this one. 👏🏻The huge impact it has to show what you are talking about. Such a huge different in quality. Just standing in front of the buss, or standing on the boat talking, or go off at the fram museum like that. Perfect. There is only one thing I found that could serve as a distraction. Some of the times, the music was just a little bit to loud over your voice. it did not "duck" enough. Other from that. I'm talking notes. You really impress me with these videos. Keep it up mate 👏🏻🇳🇴

I surely will come again some day. I have been driving around your country here and there between Mandal and Vardø and will do it more in the future :) By the way that "trikk" is a nice word. I’ve been in Oslo for 4 days and tomorrow I pick up my rental car tomorrow morning at 9. I’m driving to Aurland with a stop at that Kistofos museum you mentioned. I have countryside hostel booked in the Aurland area, I think I’ve planned it with enough time so I won’t be rushed. Do you think so?

@@TransCanadaPhil That sounds like the perfect day! Enjoy Kistefos and Aurland

Very useful. Wondering if I need to validate the tickets before boarding the transport?
@norwaywithpal8 ай бұрын
All tickets need to be validated. You either buy it in the app and it validates automatically, or if you have a paper ticket you validate it by scanning it either before (metro) or onboard (bus ferry tram)

great video! I'm visiting for the first time at the end of May and this is very helpful! I'm from Winnipeg, Canada! I'm flying into Copenhagen first, staying for 4 days, then taking the overnight Ferry from Copenhagen to Oslo, staying in Oslo for 4 days, then renting a car and driving to Bergen (and maybe other places) for the next 4-5 days, then coming home. Is that a good plan? Any other suggestions? I've never been to Scandinavia before. I only have 2 weeks of Vacation (Yes Employers in Canada are just as bad as the ones in the US about giving Vacation days). I plan to record some of my driving in Norway like you see on my KZbin channel in Canada!. Cheers!

Hi Phil, that sounds like a great plan! You could consider driving the E39 from Bergen to Ålesund. It’s a really nice road trip! Enjoy ☺️

Hi, I wonder what are the green busses seen along side the red ones? Great video of the system, greetings from Helsinki, Finland.
@norwaywithpal Жыл бұрын
Thanks! The green buses are regional buses that has their end/start station outside of Oslo. They are only relevant if you are traveling out of Oslo

do you have an opinion on the Oslo pass? I will be in Oslo for 3 days and I am the type of person that hops on and off the metro/tram/bus/ferry and will visit several museums on that pass. For the price of 895 NOK, i find in a bargain only because of the savings I would get for going to the museums on the pass versus buying individual tickets. Thanks on showing the bus number to the sculpture garden!

Hey, if you ride a lot of public transport and visit 2-3 museums per day then it usually pays off. There are also many other discounts that you can find listed on their website. Enjoy!

Fantastic video!!! perfect amount of detail without overwhelming the traveller 🎉 Is there a kiosk for tickets at the airport? Is it cheeper to buy a 7 day pass than 24hour....I'd be using it for 5 of the 7 days. (Recent reviews of Ruter app are not very positive 😮(
@norwaywithpal Жыл бұрын
Hi there! Thank you :) Ignore the reviews of Ruter and use the app, that is my recommendation. 7 day pass costs more than a 24 hour ticket yes, but it sounds like it is what you need. So if you are going to Oslo then buy a 7 day pass for zone 1. Going from the airport you can add the zones that you need for a small extra fee
