Yes, mem+punya+i...punya is the root. Mempunyai is normally used in the literature, news, formal setting. Colloquially, we use 'punya'

I’m confused on what ‘ke’ means, in some sentences I see it’s used as ‘to’ like “ kami nak pergi ke sekolah” is “we want go to school” but it can also mean ‘is it’ in some sentences like “ Minta maaf, Encik. Saya nak pergi KLCC. Jauh ke?” = “excuse me, sir. I want go KLCC. Far is it?” So I’m confused on what it means and how to use correctly (sorry if some of the sentences are wrong it’s from other videos)

'ke' is used grammatically as a particle with directional words such as kiri, kanan, atas, bawah or movement verbs such as pergi, datang, pulang, balik and etc. Colloquially, 'ke' is also used at the end of a question just like you mentioned.
