Honestly guys I am speechless … thank you Liza and Kevin for these videos. They are simple, short, up-to-the-point, well-structured and easy to follow for English learners at different levels. I use English as my second language for over 20 years,… I have been living in English speaking countries as a student, a researcher and a working professional in my field. That being said, I always seek ways to improve my knowledge of English. This youtube channel is what I have been looking for, for years! Literally for years… I watch these videos over and again, even when the content is already part of my English knowledge… Can’t thank you enough! Great job!

As an avid English learner, I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity to learn from the native speakers. I mean, there is nothing wrong in making mistakes or sounding not like a native speaker, but it's always worth to at least try to get better at this.

Wow! Even with a certain level of fluency, I couldn't imagine I'd have a so important grammar point to learn yet! It's hard to accept some of these rules, I'll have to watch again and again later to be more confident! That "avoid" tip was very useful! Thanks Liza and Kevin!

British English textbooks (e.g. Gateway, M.Swan's Practical English Usage) and dictionaries (Longman, Oxford) teach the pattern 'recommend somebody to do something' which causes some confusion. (e.g. Students are recommended to make an appointment with a counselor. We'd recommend you to book your flight early.)

Hi Kevin, hi Liza First of all, thank you for teaching both grammatically correct, and real life american english in such a professional way. I have one question and one request. My question is: if my understanding is correct, are we supposed to say: "They recommended (that) she HAVE a fair discussion with him". And my request is: do you have a similar video about the verb offer? Thank you again for sharing useful information we can rely on.
@djtu72802 жыл бұрын
Hi, in the Oxford dictionary, there can be an optional "sb" between "recommend" and gerund. i.e. recommend (sb) doing sth. I'm confused.
