I have found that nail polish thinner will turn almost every regular polish into a quick-drying polish. Not quite instant, but, easily within 5 minutes. I use the ordinary cheap 4 oz bottle (costs $4) and have tried with all the economical brands, it works great. That, together with this gelly sandwich method, lets me make a nice gel mani using regular polishes in a very quick time.
@CreateYourSpace_.3 жыл бұрын
Oh interesting! Could you give me more info on this? What type of nail polish thinner do you use? Also are you talking about the ordinary dropper bottles. Do you use this to place a drop of thinner on each nail after painting it?

Drops go into the regular nail polish. It fixes goopy and old polish. I use it all the time. It basically replaces the stuff that evaporates over time. Go little by little though, then gently shake.

There’s also a product called hydrocol that you can mix with any polish to turn it into gel. It’s a bit messy though because you have to mix it in a separate dish and use a gel brush or clean brush to apply it. But it does work. I actually like this idea better because all you’d need to do is let it dry fully. But hydrocol does work.

I’m so happy, I found this video! I was thinking of just doing a clear, basecoat and topcoat and curing it and then using regular polish on top with a regular clear, anti-chip topcoat. This way, I can change out the color when I get bored with it (and I get bored with it easily). I also have a lot of trouble taking cured gel polish off without ruining my nails because of over-filing - it’s just so hard for me to get it all off (even with the remover that ‘cracks’ the gel color). I also thought this would be a way to have clear, cured gel nails to protect my natural nails (while they grow out after having acrylic nails removed) and let me change out the color with regular polish on top every week, if I feel like it. I hope this makes sense. What do you think?
@CreateYourSpace_.2 жыл бұрын
So glad it was helpful! Yes you can totally do this! You will notice a slight dip as the clear gel polish grows out but you can fill it and keep going with your colors. I never file my gel off I only use acetone to make sure I don’t damage my nails. I recommend you do the same :)

You can also do a regular polish manicure, and then use the gel top coat for chrome powder. I polish one day like I normally would, with regular top/base coat. The next day, I apply a no wipe gel top coat, cure for 30 seconds, apply the chrome powder, brush off any excess, apply a second layer of gel top coat, then cure for 90 seconds and its all done. It may seem like waiting until the second day is annoying, but the reality is that the gel cures so quickly that it only takes a few minutes to apply.

Have you ever done this by using a regular quick dry top coat to help the polish layers dry faster, then applying the gel polish and curing? I'm just curious if this would affect it, because quick dry top coat is so convenient
@CreateYourSpace_.3 жыл бұрын
Good question! I have never personally tried it however I think quick dry top coat only helps the top layer dry however the layers underneath are still soft/wet for a little while. I am not sure 100% but I think the layers below being wet might still cause the gel top coat to wrinkle eventually (within a few hours). If you end up trying this out let me know how it goes!

Did you use 5 coats of just the colored gel polish alone? Or are the 5 coats including your base coat and top coat? Also depends on the color you bought, if it was meant to be a sheer color then it will take a lot to build up a solid look. Normally 2 coats of the colored polish is enough. Sorry I asked so many question but you are tge only person should answer me I trust you
@CreateYourSpace_.3 жыл бұрын
Hi! If you apply your nail polish in that order as a gelly sandwich, it should last atleast 10-12 days ( that’s how long it lasts for me and sometimes longer). If you cannot wait until the next day to paint your top coat then you should wait atleast 4-5 hours for your polish to fully dry. It’s better to paint thin coats so it dries in between quicker. Usually chips or cracks are from the polish not being sealed properly around the edges and lifting happens from not prepping the nail properly before applying the base coat. Hope this helps!

The glossy shine is still intact but the regular polish underneath the top coat turns yellowish when it's nude nail paint and white when it's lavender or baby pink . I have tried it with 2 different brands. I don't know if it's the climate or the way I apply. Am I the only one with this issue?

Usually quick dry drops only cure the top layer of polish but the polish underneath is still soft and this usually causes issues

Going over them with a buffing block will help because it removes that slippery oily layer on the very top for sure! I have another video where I do gel nails and I go into depth about prep, that should be helpful :)

after base coat - did you wipe residue off first before you put on regular polish?
@CreateYourSpace_.3 жыл бұрын
Good question! Looking back at my video I think I forgot to mention that I do wipe the residue off my nails just with a cotton swab and some alcohol. I am not sure if painting on a sticky layer would work well, that layer is meant to stick to the next gel polish layer but not sure if that applies to regular polish. If you end up trying this I would love to see the finished result! You can tag me on Instagram @twoafterido :)

How long does it take to remove the gelly sandwich? It would take me so long to remove gel polish and it was so damaging. All that soaking and scraping 😣 I’m looking for an easier solution.

It’s pretty much the same as removing gel but the regular nail polish in the middle comes off way easier. Try 100% acetone with cotton balls and tin foil to trap the heat for 5 minutes and it should crumble right off!

so i just tried this on my nails. im at the stage after i put the gel base coat on and the regular nail polish. im waiting for it to dry before i put on the gel top coat. while im sitting here waiting, ive started noticing a lot of tiny bubbles appear. why do you think this is happening and how do i fix it?!
@CreateYourSpace_.3 жыл бұрын
Are the bubbles forming in your regular polish? I would maybe try taking it off and cleaning the base coat with some alcohol and reapplying. Sounds like maybe something was left behind on the base coat and is reacting with the polish? Just a theory as I can’t see it and it hasn’t happened to me before. Good luck!

ive since experimented with this and found the best way to use a normal polish as gel is to mix the 2. no bubbles or anything weird. it worked wonders.

I make nail design on my nails with regular polish. How can i make them into gel nails?
@CreateYourSpace_.3 жыл бұрын
Gel nail art is similar but you just need to cure under the lamp at each step when you are happy with your design then move on to the next color or part of your design. Its different depending on what kind of design you are doing. The nice thing about Gel is its stays wet until you cure it under the lamp so you can play around and mix and move your design until you are happy with it. Is there a specific design you would like to see a video on?
@CreateYourSpace_.3 жыл бұрын
Also another way is to do your designs how you normally do and add a regular layer of top coat to seal it in place. Then 24 hours later add a layer of gel top coat and cure it under the lamp, this will help it last a lot longer.

My gel top coat never has a sticky layer although the base coat does.
@CreateYourSpace_.3 жыл бұрын
Yes! You likely have a no wipe top coat. This a specific gel polish and does not leave behind a sticky layer and usually only comes as a top coat only and not the other polishes like the base or colors.

I had a question… Will the nail polish drier machine dry a regular nail polish? As in can we use that to just dry the regurgitate nail polish alone?
@CreateYourSpace_.3 жыл бұрын
No the UV lamps is not a fan, it is a light that causes a chemical reaction with gel polishes only which makes them harden (cure). You can’t use this lamp with regular polish it won’t do anything.

Is there any particular reason why you wait 24 hours to apply the top coat? Is it just to be extra sure the regular polish is dry?

Why do you need the gel base coat under the regular polish? Couldn’t you just use a gel top coat?
@CreateYourSpace_.3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you could but the base coat is there for a few reasons. Firstly it gives your nails a thicker more salon quality looking manicure. Secondly a gel base coat adheres your nails in a different way than regular polish which gives you manicure that longevity that you get from only gel manicure. If you skip the base coat I highly doubt your manicure will last as long cause it will likely peel off. Hope this helps!

Hi:) I came across your video looking for nails polish options for my preteen daughter. She wants to get nail extensions, but she is a little too young for extensions right now, in my book. I'm thinking about trying this for her instead. Would you recommend using this method for a preteen(12yo)?
@CreateYourSpace_.3 жыл бұрын
Good question! I have never had this one before. In my person opinion I think 12 might be a little young for gel polish because her nails are probably still thin and flimsy and also it is an agent that bonds directly to your nail. Some other options I might suggest are regular nail polish, press ons, or nail wraps is also a great idea (basically a sticker of nail polish applied to the nail like a decal. Hope that makes sense and good luck!
