Man, I wouldn’t trust my safety to just ramps either. I chock both rear wheels on the front and back side of both rear wheels and I use jack stands with the ramps. That way, my safety from the vehicle rolling or falling on me is a nonfactor and I can focus on the maintenance. Please bro, for your family, get a decent set of jack stands with the locking pawls to use in addition to the ramps…Stay safe!

I use Rhino ramps too. What I do is back up the drive way then roll down on to the ramps. That way with the slope of the driveway you get more craw space. I also do the same thing when I need to keep the car level but not go all the way up the ramp. This is for transmission oil change.

If you wanted to use Jack stands behind the front wheels as extra security for the event that a ramp failed, you could position the ramps behind the front wheels and then back up onto them. Then the ramp does not block the pinch welds behind the front wheels allowing you to place a Jack stand on the driver and passenger sides.

@@MontyGumby true. I bought ramps and what I do is just jack up the car and then stick the ramp in place and lower it onto the ramp. Easy enough to do rather than mess around driving up on them. @@MontyGumby yes, Jack the car, insert ramp, lower car onto ramp, then do the same on the other side and then after it’s on the ramps, I put Jack stands in place with the Jack also left in position but not holding the load, just enough to have it firmly in place. As I said you can never be too safe under a car. Rhino Ramps can fail and so can a Jack stand. People die from cars falling on them all the time. When I’m under a car I want to know I have safety redundancy.

I considered these, but didn't like the hollow plastic design - specially here in Phoenix. Plastic dashboards and housings crack and break after enough sun and ozone exposure. I ended up building my own wooden ones as I needed a higher lift to suit a prius oil change - they have a large hinged plastic flap on the bottom that won't get out the way on regular ramps. Just have to keep them away from termites!! Nothing wrong with Fram filters BTW - it's a myth.

With the angle of your driveway, those ramps work really good, makes the car level. Another option is to get a low profile Harley-Davidson oil drain pan, will fit under just about any vehicle without any raising of it, you may have to get used to doing things by feel though. @@jamminproductreviews Which oil filters to use, there is the $10,000 question! For my 2010 Tundra I buy the Toyota filters. For the G37 I was using Nissan filters but now the dealership wants $20 for it and it's made in Mexico, so I will be looking for something else. For the Subaru, was using Subaru filters, but I read somewhere that Subaru filters are now made by FRAM so I switched to Purolator made in USA filter. For yard equipment I've been using Baldwin filters for a long time, and have occasionally used them on the Subaru. But with manufacturers cheaping out, what was a good filter last month, could be a shitty one today. From all past cut apart oil filter reviews, FRAM is usually bottom of the pile.

Ultraviolet rays of the sun are the worst deteriorator of all plastics, so never store your ramps outside in direct sunlight. Avoid their use in sub-zero temperatures (not when you would want to be under your vehicle anyways) and it's probably wise to replace them after 10 years of use. Saw them in half when scrapping them, so someone else doesn't inherit a problem.

I usually use Purolator One or Fram Ultra Synthetic but had this one that was sitting on my shelf. I heard some bad things about them although I don't believe I had an issue with this one. It has been swapped out with a Fram Ultra Synthetic... what do you think about the Fram Ultra Synthetic?

I have a pair these and they are holding up…Just get a set of jack stands and at least one set of chocks for the rear wheel. Use the stands and chocks in addition to the ramps bro and just have that piece of mind while you’re maintaining the vehicle.

Car needs to be level to completely drain the oil pan, especially if drain plug is in front of the pan. However, if someone does not understand that and needs instructions on how to use ramps, and does not know the safety requirements will they be knowledgeable enough to know how to fill the engine with oil afterward?

@@maybe_its_maybelline6381 not really, the whole point of using car ramps is so you don't have to use a jack. Jack stands or always a good safety precaution. It's not hard to throw a jack stand underneath the car after the front is already up in the air. It takes less than 2 minutes.

Jack and jack stand accidents happen on a regular basis. I have never heard of a Rhino Ramp failure. Don't store your ramp in the sunlight, use them only on hard stable surfaces, set the vehicle parking brake and chock the back wheels.

The vehicles used in this video look higher then a Toyota Camry front end these ramps wouldn't work, I have to jack up both sides of the car using my 40 year old metal car ramps to rest the wheels on them to get clearance changing oil, harbor freight sells low profile plastic type ramps as like in this video but they have very little height to them when wheels are on top & big concern is being plastic is dangerous, plastic eventually fails in time from the heat & cold they can easily break crack a person can get killed by using these things.
